Help me get my free D* Genie

So I called customer retention b/c I can't watch two recorded items off one DVR in two separate rooms. I was offered a free D* Genie. Here's my issue. I'm using a different service address and D* is saying they have to have a D* field service tech install it. I would like to have it installed by the local installer who originally installed my equipment or install it myself.

Anyway around this? How can I get it shipped to my local installer or my service address without having a FST install it?

They aren't a FST so it would cost me $399 as opposed to free from D*.

Field Service Tech. I was told by D* that they would only send to an FST and not to my local installer. Guess it's time to 'move'.

Yes, but in talking with customer retention, D* doesn't have the ability to say what dealer get's the install. Therefore, it could go to ANY installer...With my 'moved' status, I need a particular installer to put in.

I think you either move back and take whatever tech Directv sends, or pay full price to your preferred guy.

Thats what I was thinking ...

FWIW, he hasn't moved yet, I don't think (unless I'm mixing it up with another poster) get the equipment put in and then move afterwards.
