Here is my question.
I have 2 SD/Receiver's an HD Receiver and an HD DVR. One of the SD/boxes is going bad. (have to reset it every couple of days) it's covered under the wiring plan. I think every time I call them they just want me to upgrade instead of replace the box. When the HD Box went bad a couple of months ago I had to almost cancel to get them to send me a new box.

I have been thinking about getting a Genie Box and another HD Box. But if I have to pay them $299.00 bucks that stinks
 (because it would put me back in a contract) My contract is up the end of March.

I am told I can get a HD/DVR for nothing.(but again 2yr. contract)
 I can also upgrade for HD/Box. (one agent says no cost the next one says $99.00)
I don't think these clowns know what they are talking about.
If I get another DVR and another HD Box, can I watch all programs that are recorded on any of the TV's as long as it's an HD Box?

I also have a SD Box, in the house, but it will go away and take up residence in the RV. (that way we don't have to move it back and forth).

If I go with the Genie Box, and get another HD Box, will I be able to record up to 7 shows at the same time or is someone blowing smoke at *D* ?
Any suggestions. If I get the Genie I can record to my hearts content. If I get another DVR/Box I will be limited to only 4 shows at once.
Should I wait until I am out of contract to upgrade or just go for another DVR? Because there is only once or twice a week if that that I need to be able to record more than 2 programs at once, also does anyone know if I am recording 2 shows can I still watch something else on another TV or am I stuck watching one of the shows tha's being recorded on any of the HD Boxes? Or if I have an SD Box I think I can watch another channel while the HD/DVR is recording? Am I not getting something here or am drinking too much Coffee and Old Bushmill's Irish Whiskey?
:coffee

anytime you upgrade receivers you get in the 2 year agreement
If the receiver is defective and they replace it with same type there is no contract extension

If you have a HD DVR (NOT Genie/HR34...I'll go into detail with that later) and a HD receiver as long as you have the whole home DVR option yes you can watch recorded programs on either TV

I also have a SD Box, in the house, but it will go away and take up residence in the RV. (that way we don't have to move it back and forth).
irrelevant at this point ;)

If you get Genie (5 tuners) and a HD DVR (2 tuners) yes you can record 7 things at once
If you get a HD receiver (not a DVR) then you would be able to record 5 things at once via Genie

Any suggestions. If I get the Genie I can record to my hearts content. If I get another DVR/Box I will be limited to only 4 shows at once.
How is it 4? Unless you get 2 HD DVR's
It really depends on what you record. If you record alot of "one time showings" then the Genie would be wise to upgrade to
If you do a lot of cable channel recording where they replay it a few times a day then maybe the 2 tuner DVR would be sufficient as those shows on A&E, TruTV, HIstory, TLC, etc they replay at night so the DVR can grab it then if you have conflicts earlier

also does anyone know if I am recording 2 shows can I still watch something else on another TV or am I stuck watching one of the shows tha's being recorded on any of the HD Boxes?
If you get a HD DVR (NOT Genie) the HD receiver will have its own tuner. So you could record 2 shows and watch another at same time (or watch something from the DVR that already recorded)
If you go with Genie and a HD receiver, most likely it will be the C31 client which takes a tuner from the Genie to use. But then again you'd have 5 tuners so there wouldnt be an issue

Thanks Iceberg;

My thought now is if I get another HD Box and get a Genie Box. Will I need to get the will I also need to get the Genie Mini Client Also?
