General Sports Trivia

It's a trick question......

Pitcher Rube Waddell lead the NL in strikeouts and hits allowed in the year 1900.
Nope .it's a legit question with a legit answer...
I like the way you think though. People like us can anser "trick" questions like who was the first switch hitter to win an All -Star MVP....The answer is Vida Blue. Yes he was a switch hitting pitcher....

Dish,
was it Steve Garvey?
Nope..Garvey led the NL twice in base hits with 202 in 1978 and 200 in 1980...However garvey never struck out more than 90 times in any on eseason in his career. Garvey despite playing half his games in a ball park that was the most pithcer friendly in the majors hit for power. He also hit for average and had outstanding bat control and a great eye at the plate.

Rod Carew?

I have searched everywhere and can't find it.

Nope ..Carew was a master at bat control. Was a great contact hitter. Always put the ball in play.

Ok to everyone..here's a hint. He played in the late 80's thru the early 2000's.....He played with one tream that is no longer in the city he played in.
Carew led the AL in total hits 3 times. 1973 (203), 1974 (218) and 1979( 239) that same year Carew batted .388. Rod never had a sniff at leading in K's....

Finally, the question that couldn't be answered is answered!

I got a new one:

What NFL team holds the record for most points allowed by a Super Bowl-winning team? (In other words, which Lombardi Trophy-hoisting team had the worst defense in the regular season of all 42 winners)

The 1983 Oakland raiders (Beat WAS 38-9) yuked up 338 reg season pts.

1995 Chiefs-Cowboys

Correct.

That game drew 35.7 million viewers.

That was an interesting game for this reason- The one-loss Chiefs had the best record in the league against the Cowboys who were arguably at the height of their power (they had Deion, but Switzer had taken over) on and off the field, yet K.C. was double-digit underdogs. I never understood that.
