Flash Forward

I just checked and V's 6 million viewers are slightly better than FlashForward's 4.77 million. You may disagree, but I am ABSOLUTELY CORRECT in the fact this show is is a stinker and I am surprised it was renewed for a 2nd season.

I was saying you were wrong about the ratings, and as such, it got renewed. Your opinion of the show matters not to me.

The most significant difference between FF and V, in this regard, are the costs associated with the difference between where they're each filmed.

And your point is? I'm sure CPE is higher for V.

I love Flash Forward and am disappointed that it is being cancelled. It reminds me of Traveler in 2007 which was another show that ended WAY too early.

You're missing a lot of factors. The most significant factor is where the shows are filmed (LA versus Canada). Also, you factor in cast size, but not the relative salaries of the leads in each. Also, you mention CGI, but don't factor in how the special effects in FlashForward (see the first 18 minutes of Episode 1) are in a completely different league from that in 'V' (note how much cheap green screen work is employed).

I've read numerous articles outlining the actual comparison. They all seem credible, given that they have real numbers instead of just gut feel. They all make the point, very clearly, that FlashForward is more expensive, by a lot.

I think you misread the message you were trying to reply to.

No. Let's agree to disagree. Without Column A/B numbers, I choose to believe, based on my production experience...primarily post production, that FF was the cheaper of the two. We can both go and find articles etc to support our own opinion.

The tickler phrase here is "runaway production" (which would describe 'V' -- a US television series produced abroad, not for creative reasons, but solely to save money). A lot of the cost advantage comes from subsidies provided by provincial governments, but also because craft pay scales are much lower.

I could hardly watch the last episode knowing the show was cancelled. It is just not worth trying to figure out now that I know it will never give answers, just end some what abruptly.

I'll watch the last one , just to see if any of the predictions come true. But this show being canceled proves what I keep saying about network tv and sci-fi series. They almost always cancel them. ABC jerked the series when it got going and kept it off for many months, then returned it when most had quit watching . This series would of been better had it been a mini- series instead.
