Yes, but it will only format 2T of the 3T. 2 is the official limit.

As long as it has an external power supply, 2TB or less and is USB, it will work.

Neither of my EHD's have external power supplies and they work fine. Been using passive EHD's on Hoppers, 211k, and now Wally and never have had a single issue

Think about how Dish can save two cents by reducing the margins on power supplies.

If you have any doubts, talk to those of us that had 721 DVRs. Seven of them floated thru my home, mostly due to power supply failures.

I have so many EHDs, I run them all thru powered hubs. And all but two are self powered.

A powered hub allows USB power drives to work fine on my 211 (not k). The 211 USB port won't power them but the 211k does.

But a powered hub takes Dish's power supply out of the picture.
