The good thing is that Dish developed their own plugin to play your content on Dish Anywhere.
The bad thing is some dumb ass developer never bothered to beta test it or send it to anyone else.
Dish Anywhere now comes up that a plugin is required to show content. There is a nice button to go and download the plugin.
The plugin install package downloads fine but when you try to run it it gives you this message:
“DISH Anywhere Video Player Installer.pkg” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
DISH Anywhere Video Player Installer.pkg” is on the disk image “DISH_Anywhere_Video_Player_Installer_2.7.1.dmg”.
Firefox downloaded this disk image today at 9:33 AM.
So they hired someone to write a viewer plugin that doesn't know what the heck code signing is on a MAC or IOS. Without code signing or a certificate OSX will not allow an install of anything that Apple doesn't have identified as a registered developer. That one of the reason OSX is virus resistant.
Can anyone else on a Mac (Mavericks) go to Dish Anywhere and see if they can duplicate the problem.
Also in the bowels of Dish, how to I make an urgent Dumb Ass report? All they have to do it code sign it properly and just replace the package and we can then download it and install it.
