622/722 L444: Support for the upcoming mapdown of HD RSN channels for the NHL/NBA seasons, Robustness fix for IP call-back/DishCOMM, more signal loss and a/v fixes

What does more signal loss mean? I know once they "Dish Network" updated the software last time to the L443 I have noticed my dish goes out during storms now.

Being a Radio/video transmission engineer for a somewhat large telco I know this should not have affected the microwave signal from the bird to my dish so I am confused. Any idea if this update will fix this issue?

I have had dish for just over 1 year and my dish NEVER went out before June of this year. right after that I called my local dish network install company and asked them to come and re allign my dish. They said that its not my dish the issue is all over my local area. I hate to admit it but im stumped.

Yeah it did the long guide download but that was about it.

I figure I'll get it some point. They had to send a reset deal to my box when I first got it because I didn't get the initial download. Might just be something wonky with my box. :)

You don't have to do a check switch or a reboot or any of that. If your receiver is targeted to receive the update just put the box in standby (if in dual mode make sure both tvs are in standby) and it will take the download. If it doesn't take the download then your box wasn't targeted.

All 722s are supossed to be getting the new software update so his box is targeted. Something is up with his receiver and a check switch should force the download.

Didn't leave it off long enough. Turned it off, went to shower, came back it was updated.

Maybe this'll help my random reboots too.

I wish things were more like my 721.. For instance, 721 didn't need a 3am update reboot. Also it would download the update, and I could go to the updates panel and it'd tell me it had one waiting for me.. :)

I think all of the s/w updates for the 622/722 units have went to 'groups' of 622s but ALL 722s so far....

I do see that you've already gotten but your comment about getting it eventually is true. There's no need to feel left out if you don't get it right away. In fact, you'll be thankful that you might fall into the 'later' crowd when there are severe bugs with s/w releases. It does happen. There was a recent round of updates from L4.0x to L4.06 and then L4.09 that had major problems. Lucky for me, I got left on the older version (didn't update to either 'new' release). Needless to say, they eventually rolled EVERYONE back to the release I got left on.

It can't get any worse than my 4-6 reboots a day some days.. :)

[I say that jokingly, Dish could give me 9 reboots a day)..

The unit passes fsck according to the counters, no SMART errors, so I can't really gripe too much. Some days it runs fine..

Have you checked the temperature ? See the thread in Dish Technical Forum here at SatelliteGuys.

DAMN, last 10 days audio sync probelms on recerded events and dropping/pixelated images on my HD Locals! Why do they screw up the software rigt when the new TV season is starting. Their QA process sucks! Where is my 942 when I need it....
