Detroit Tigers 2008

Looking good!

Maybe they finally got their crap together!

Looking much better, they play the NL now which they have always played well against, so this should help, well see when they get back to playing the AL teams, in the mean time lets see if they can get back into the race against the NL teams, that will only happen if the Sox start to falter...

Rockies not playing very well this year yet, helped out last night, Tigers have to avoid the potential losing streak that will make this winning streak useless....
Thats said, it feels better when they are winning now :)

After last night, I remember why I DIDN'T miss Fernando Rodney. Verlander can't buy a win, no matter how good he throws. Tonight another hard luck story with Rogers. Guy is pitching his old fart of a body off, lately with nothing to show for it in his win column.

He's keeping them in this one .... No offense again ... so far.
Gotta give SF credit, Sanchez is pitching damn good.

Tigers O looks offensive tonight so far.... No hit into the 5th.
I can't remember a hard hit ball yet.

10 out of 12! This team is finally showing signs of life.

Just when we get with in shouting distance, we lose a 1/2 game today, due to not playing and the White Sox crushing the Pirates again today.

Could pick up ground over the weekend, Tigers play San Diego and the Sox play the Cubs !

Tigers have a great oppertunity to pick up a game in the standing tonight as the White Sox got beat by the Cubbies today !!!

They (Tigers) get a BIG boost in the bullpen tonight.
Joel, (Zoom, Zoom) Zumaya back in the line up tonight.
He's been throwing well down in Toledo, he's been over 100 as well, for those that have wondered about his volicity since his comeback.

Another Tigers road game in HD :)

Thank you FSN Detroit and the others responsible for this happening.
Hopefully next year all games will be in HD home AND road.

Thanks Cubs !!!

Thank you Cubbies :up

Incase you haven't been paying attention, the Cubs are sweeping the White Sox, while the Tigers have won 10 of 12 and are now back within 5.5 games of first place and closing in on the .500 mark quickly that not too long ago seems like a pipe dream.
edit: make that 5 GB as of tonight !

Sheff says he's 100%. I sure hope so, he can carry a team when he's hot. Impressive tater last night.

Tigers come back after a 2 hour rain delay and beat St. Louis last night, while the White Sox lose, Tigers back to 5 gb.

Sheff has the GW single in the bottom of the ninth .... NO I was not awake to see it ...yawn.
5th inning restarted at 11 pm.

That '68 team really was special. The original comeback kids. I can't remember how many times they came back to win the last 3 innings, not to mention their historic comeback in the WS. Yes, St. Louis fans, Brock was out! Al Kaline was my hero back then. (I was all of 10 yrs. old when they won the WS that year.)

Then I guess that, back when you were 9 years old, you were to young to realize that the Red Sox were the comeback kids in 1967.

I remember listening to the second game of a doubleheader against the Angels when the Red Sox fell behind 8-0 early, got a solo homer from Reggie Smith, then a three run homer from Yaz, and then tied the game with a four run rally, and then some nobody they had picked up (whose name I could have told you as recently as a decade ago, and it may come to me later today) won it for them in eighth or ninth. Prompting their manager, Bill Rigney to say, "Yesterday they broke my win streak. Today, they broke my heart."

Was it George Thomas?

EDIT: Was it Hawk Harrelson?

Just for fun, I looked it up. It was Jerry Adair, and his HR was in the eighth inning.

Tigers win again tonight.
Granderson goes 4-5 with 2 triples.
A month ago he was hitting about 2.40, now he's up to .294 on a 15 game hitting streak.
Tigers are now only 1 game under .500 after being about 10 under earlier.

Chicago's only 5 games up and has Minnesota breathing down thier neck only 1 GB.
Are the White Sox's feeling the pressure of the Twins (also on a very good win streak - 9 -1) and Tigers ?

Wow, what's gotten into the AL Central!?
Everyone in the AL Central wins again! How's my Tribe supposed to gain any ground!? ;) BTW, after this weekends interleague series against the Reds, the Indians go on the road to battle the White Sox and then the Twins. If this team wants to gain ground, that'd be the time.....

Sox win 2 in a row. 6-4 in last 10. (1st Place)
Twins win 10th in a row! 10-0 in last 10. (1/2 GB)
Detroit win 5 in a row. 7-3 in last 10. (5 GB)
Indians win 2 in a row. 4-6 in last 10. (7.5 GB)
Royals win their 6th in a row! 9-2 in last 10 (7.5 GB)

And then you look at the NL West where Arizona leads the division with a 40-40 mark. Pathetic!

Don't look now,but the Tigers have made it back to .500.
They have won 14 of 17, but still are not playing crisp ball.
Tonight, they had a 3 run lead going into the 9th and blew the lead and had to rally in the bottom of the 9th to win it.

Justin Verlander was OK, the pitch count got high and they pulled him it the 6th.
The bats bailed out the bull pen, mainly Jones, who was 14 fro 14 in save opps coming into the game.

Tigers beat Colorado 7-6 and will have to play better in the next series when they have a chance to gain more ground on the team directly ahead of them, the Minnesota Twins when they open a series on Monday with them.
