CEA backs Dish in Hopper Lawsuit

Of course my thinking is the CEA is backing DISH because they don't want them to pull out of CES this year after the CBS / CNET issue.

Na, it makes sense they would back new technology, isn't that the whole reason for the existence of the CES?

Oh I knew the CEA was going to back them as they have been in DISH's favor since the hopper came out. :)

I do think DISH will win.

Instead of admitting they were wrong, CBS executives now appear to be stuck having to carry their charade out through to its fruition, pretending that their policy of interfering with CNET's editorial policies isn't idiotic. As such, CNET's now proclaiming they're also not going to review OTA channel streaming service Aereo because of a similar CBS lawsuit. Amusingly, CNET can review products like Roku that now include Aereo apps, but not the Aereo functionality itself:
Disclosure: CBS, the parent corporation of CNET, is currently in active litigation with Aereo as to the legality of its service. As a result of that conflict of interest, CNET cannot review that service going forward.

CBS is going all out on the censorship...

I really feel bad for many of the CNET writers who have now had their professional reputations tarnished.

The writer here has his facts wrong, or what CBS told him to say( :D ;) ).

At issue is the legality of Dish's digital video recorder, the Hopper, including its "AutoHop" feature. AutoHop allows customers to record the entire prime-time lineup and automatically skip commercials. Broadcasters argue that the technology threatens to undermine an industry that depends on advertising revenue to help cover the cost of its shows.

Not Autohop that allows one to record the entire lineup, but PTAT. This makes me wonder if the writer actually thinks that is how it works or if he was directed to write that?

I found the new CBS logo.

Well the next step is to only praise products advertised on CBS, and any company that does not advertise on CBS must be shunned and its products to only receive negative reviews. It is a slippery slope.

IMHO somebody wealthy should just step forward and hire all the editors and staff of CNET away from CBS. Call themselves... Nah, I can't think of any good names for the newly-formed company. How about CNOT? More Not Les?
Les is Moron?

possible Hopper SAP bug

What to do with second Dish on roof?
