I gotta say FiOS is looking pretty tempting for me. They blow away DTV for HD in the NY area. It's not even close. There's close to 50 movie channels alone!

what gets me is all the complaining i bet there are just as many complaints on Dish for Hd and i can garuntee fios will have there share of complaints. I bet if every channel in existence was hd there would still be people wanting more lol .

YEP, And whats sad is I rank Verizon's Customerservice well under E* . Good luck dealing with them ! I know I couldn't.
This is how I look at it. DirecTV has been very good at adding HD channels in the past 2 years, but it seems lioke in the past few months they have fell off the map a bit. I believe we have a good decent amount of HD and more than any other provider, but what really gets me is they said we would have our PBS stations in HD and nothing yet. The whole thing with the HBO channels in HD. They came out with an announcement in 07 about this and nada to this day.
Maybe DirecTV is planning on adding more HD channels, but they haven't put out any announcements due to let downs in the past with their anouncements about the rest of the HBO's in HD and the PBS station in HD. They have been very quiet lately so that may be a possiblity to why they haven't announced anything, but one would have to imagine that more HD will be added between now and Thanksgiving.

When you're flipping through 26 HBO/MAX HD channels, looking for a nice high def movie to watch (not to mention the Showtime and Starz offerings), you are hardly thinking of how bad Verizon's customer service is. Yes, they suck. I deal with them all the time on behalf of my customers regarding their DSL problems.
But DirecTV has uninformed CSRs. When I ask specifically for Fox News HD and am told I get my local Fox on channel 13 (after being placed on hold), I feel like I am talking to a real idiot. Why do I, the consumer, know more about the offerings of the TV industry than somebody that sits in a call center 8 hours a day and attends meetings about the industry? DirecTV is not alone, my cable company Bright House Networks has its share of uninformed representatives too.
Is it really asking too much to expect a Dish, DirecTV, or BHN rep to know that Fox News is not the same thing as Fox broadcast network? Is it too much to inform your reps that TW offers 26 channels of HBO/MAX in both SD and HD? They shouldn't have to look at a chart to tell me that I only get 4 of those channels in HD with DirecTV.
Reps uneducated about their product are just as bad as the snarly, crude jerks at Verizon. They both piss me off. But at least when FIOS works, you are getting a far better selection than you are getting with Dish or DirecTV when they work. Would you turn down way more channels because of the rare occasion you have to deal with a rude CSR at Verizon? I am sorry, but customer service is not THAT important to me.

Listen all u fools I have been with D* since day one, they will not add anymore HBO channels. Its been like this since Jesus was a corporal in the Army, LET IT GO! Besides all the HBO's show the same old stuff over and over, just on different channels!

Well, you have already discredited yourself on this site. The new HBOs specifically requested are first the existing HBO channels being delivered to us in HD. I am talking about HBO2, HBO Sig, HBO Family, Mormax, and the western feeds. I'm sorry we are such fools, but a DirecTV press release DID state in June 2007 that fall of 2007 we would see 13 HBO/MAX channels deliverd in HD. It is now fall of 2008, and we only get 4 channels in HD of HBO/MAX.
If you feel the HBO stuff is the same old stuff over and over, don't subscribe. I already cited one example of where you are wrong (but there are many more). HBO Comedy had a tribute to George Carlin after his death. They aired most, if not all his HBO specials over the years. Those specials were not shown on the other HBO channels that month or during the following months. Not having HBO Comedy with DirecTV means none of us got to see those specials. So yes, DirecTV should add all 26 HBO/MAX channels.
Stop playing Devil's advocate you junior member to the site! Only a fool WOULDN'T want the additonal channels. Are you a fool? Subscribers don't pay more for the channels. They are a part of the suite of channels provided by HBO and MAX. They are made availabe to providers. If they did add the channels, both HBO and DirecTV would make more money, as more people WOULD subscribe.

Don't you think there is enough HD so far. all you guys are going to do is bitch till they raise our bill's some more. I have 4 DVR's and I still have trouble recording everything each night. I'll never live long enough to watch everything I have recorded. You guys need to get a extra job or something.
I know I too have complained on not adding any national channels lately but tonight as I was scrolling thru the channels I had forgotten about A&E and BIOHD channels I know not great channels but tells that we have plenty of HD channels when you forget that ones do exist in the lineup.
