AL EAST 2009

Red Sox lose their second in a row to the Rays 6-2, behind an Evan Longoria grand salami.

Did I mention that Boston pitching blows? My favorite team stinks and its pissing me off. Its an absolute embarrassment. What did they do while the Yankees went and got CC? They scraped the old goat Smoltz off the floor. When your pitching staff gives up 11 runs in a game to the ARODless yankees and is good medicine for the last place Rays then they stink. The Rays hitters cannot wait to face them and once AROD is back Boston will not be able to out hit the yankees anymore.

Its time to trade Ortiz while they might be able to fool someone into thinking he can still get around on the ball. His job is homers not doubles. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseba...wer_switch/?rss_id=Boston.com+--+Red+Sox+news

I know what you mean. They're my favorite team too, and it's also VERY embarrassing to me . :(

Absolutely nothing. They sat on their asses while the Yankees went out and improved their pitching staff tenfold!

What were the Sox thinking????? That guy blows!!!!

You're so right. The Red Sox pitching staff was just the medicine the Rays needed. And as far as the 11 runs the Sox gave up to the Yankees goes, I'm just NOW able to show my face around friends that are Yankees fans. That was such an embarrassment! :o

Who would want him at this point? Maybe we can get a buckets of balls for his fat arse!

Geez, reading your post was like an epiphany. This team has more problems than I realized. I must have been in denial! :o

Smoltz Still Looking to June Return

By: Alex Speier
John Smoltz joined the Red Sox in Tampa Bay after having spent most of April in the Red Sox' extended spring training facility in Fort Myers. Smoltz is currently taking a break from his throwing program in an effort to focus on further strengthening his arm, but the pitcher told reporters that despite the fact that he no longer views the beginning of June as a reachable target, he still anticipates a return by the middle of next month.
"June is [still] very realistic," Smoltz told mlb.com. "I set timetables with the utmost desire to accomplish them, not just because they are easy to set. Way back in the press conference, I said, whatever the scenario is, my job is to get to this point and help them down the stretch and really fulfill what they've asked me to do. I have no doubts that will be part of the process."

Rays ahead of Red Sox, 4-1 top of the 8th.

Carl Crawford has 5 stolen bases so far today!

Man I am sick of losing to Tampa. In their fake stadium on their fake grass. And their silly rules about hitting the dome.

But the thing is, the Rays can play anywhere. They are, IMO, by far the most balanced team in the Majors.

They have power, contact hitters, speed, defense and outstanding pitching.

The Red Sox make their first ever trip to "The House That Juice Built", starting a two game series tomorrow night (weather permitting):

Monday night: Jon Lester vs. Joba Chamberlain

Tuesday night: Josh Beckett vs. A.J. Burnett

Now I find this interesting, two pitchers that use to be on the same team, going against one another.
I'm sure this has happened plenty, but this one is current and two of the Marlins top pitchers at the time. (I know Dontrelle was there too ).

They didnt do so well in the elements in Philly. They were too busy shivering from the cold.

Red Sox outfielder/first baseman Mark Kotsay continued his rehab with the PawSox Sunday afternoon, but suffered a setback in his second plate appearance of the game.

In the bottom of the third inning, the left-handed hitter hit a grounder in the hole at short, and while he was running up the first-base line, he pulled up and was thrown out. He crossed the bag and bent over in pain.

Well, the Yankees and Red Sox are at it yet AGAIN this week. Thank God it's an early week series and we get spared the mandatory broadcasting of FOX and ESPN weekend Games of the Week. :p

Blue Jays starter Brian Tallet had a no-no through 6 1/3 innings, before Ryan Garko singled.
