AL CENTRAL

It'll be interesting to see whether Sizemore or Granderson will be selected to start the All-Star Game. Can't wait to see those ballots and votes!

On the offensive side, neither are lighting it up. Both have struggled out of the gate with their bats.

G-Size is batting a putrid .227 with 6 HR and 23 RBI

Granderson is batting .254 with 9 HR and 21 RBI

LINE OF THE WEEK...

from Rick Manning on STO re: the awful weekend @ the Jake...(done in his best John Wayne drawl)

"I've heard more noise from the seagulls here!":D

Lol. Rick is the best.

BTW, what a shameful performance over the weekend by the Wahoos. This in front of a weekend sellout crowd of 40k plus per game. But if the Indians keep this miserable play up, fans will stop coming to the games as they will have nothing to root for.

Tigers are back in first, despite Rodney's best effort to steal defeat from the jaws of victory. He was clearly overthrowing yesterday. He needs to rein it back in. He's much more effective that way. Todd Jones revisited.

Odd note - Maggs got his first double of the season, after leading the AL with 54 last year. His 29 games without a double are by far the longest such streak in his career. Hopefully yesterday is a sign that Maggs is back. Now if we can just get Granderson and Polanco in form.....

Sizemore has been to the All Star game the last 3 years... Granderson has not YET ...

Remember, in the All Star game, your position you play in the outfield is not as important, it's possible to see BOTH of them voted or brought to the game.
Both need to start hitting better though to get there.

Sizemore is hitting .229
Granderson is hitting .261

I expect Granderson to be at .300 or better ... when that happens, the Tigers offense will be clicking.

Neither of these guys will be an all-star if they don't start hitting. What kind of year is the guy from the Angels having (can't remember his name)?

You mean TORII HUNTER who made a catch yesterday every bit as brilliant as Grandy's on Saturday???

He's hitting .294 :D

That was one helluva snag. Thanks for the name, old age is creeping into my memory banks. I've got whole wings of memory that have been erased.

You know what, it sure was. It's been a lot of fun watching the Tiger's for me. The starting pitching has been very impressive here in Detroit. I think this going to be a very exciting year in the MLB.

Extend your horizons...there are 29 other MLB teams out there. Can you not sit back and enjoy a game that does not involve your beloved Tribe?????

Look at me. Angels thru-and thru. But I enjoy watching other teams cause there's so much damn TALENT out there to admire. I love to watch Sizemore as much as I love to watch Granderson. The entertainment those two can provide goes beyond what jersey they wear. And you know I have been watching DeRo since his first year with the Braves. I've been a huge fan of Xavier Nady's ever since his record breaking days at Cal. etc. etc.

Even when the Angels were in their darkest period in April, I sought solace and escape by flipping around the leagues and watching the games. I just cannot imagine being so limited (NO OFFENSE HERE!!!!) to a city or it's teams only and not seeing what is going on in the rest of the world. ;)

Um this is the AL Central thread so we try to stick to the Tigers, Indians, Twins, White Sox and Royals. There's one for the whole league on this board. Take Angels, Braves and other team chat there. Some people can't afford MLB Extra Innings and or we are loyal to our hometown teams

I am an extremely loyal person. I can only root for one team and as the infamous song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" suggests, it's "root-root-root for the home-team", not "root-root-root for the away team". Sure I can appreciate the talent on other teams, but to work up that same type of emotion for another team would be like cheating on a wife of 27 years.

OK, who actually PLAYS sports?

Shaq once had a video game of his own- a fighting game!
