AL CENTRAL

What happened to your team anyhow? It was long ago I forgot you used to have one.

The Barons? Before I was born.

I do watch a few Monsters Games from time to time (AHL).

We have several strong high school hockey programs around the area and our colleges have pretty decent teams, which is why it's weird that the town has never embraced a professional team.

No problem. I enjoy smack talk. It's just I haven't had a leg to stand on lately, so I'll give my shots while I can. Come Monday, I might have to shut up again.

More MoTown cutbacks, eh?

They stopped delivering on 4 days, and now the paper on those days is all of 30-32 pages long, and reminds me more of People magazine than the great newspaper they used to be. I predict they will be completely digital by next year.

At any rate, the sports section is just a shadow of it's old self, and I hate reading the news on a monitor.

I hear ya. Both the Orange County Register and the L.A. Times are down to a 5-8 page sports section. With the Lakers and Ducks in the playoffs that doesn't leave much for the Angels, Dodgers and all the other things big around here like soccer, Nascar, the college sports and the beach sports actvities.

It's sad to say but I get 95% of my info online now. The sports section gives me some bathroom or lunchtime reading.

The Sports Section in the Cleveland Plain Dealer remains strong. I've got 10 pages worth of material I'm starring at right now. That's pretty decent for a Wednesday.

I'm old school when it comes to newspapers. I get it delivered to my doorstep every day of the week. There's just something nostalgic about it I love.

You guys still have doorstep delivery by the milkman in Cleveland, HD?:p

From what I can recall, Cleveland never got a real fair shot with the NHL. How long did the Barons last in Cleveland, two years? That's not a fair assessment of whether a sport could prosper in a town or not.

IIRC, the Barons were merged with the Minnesota North Stars in the late '70's.
