AL Central 2010

true

I know those late hockey games from Alaska that start at 10:00 Central or Hawaii FB games that start at 11:00 are crazy...dont know how you all in the East time zone deal with it..

I guess thats where a DVR comes in handy ;)

Very Poorly, it's much worse during hockey playoff time when the Wings are in the Eastern TZ yet play most of thier playoff games in other TZ's.

Many of the west coast games start at 10:30 and Vancouver tend to push thiers back to 11PM

Love it when the pitcher pitches well, gives up a few runs and your team cannot even score at least 2-3 runs to win or get the guy off the hook for a pretty well pitched game.
J.V. gave up 2 runs in the first inning and shut them down most of the rest of the way.
J.V. went 7 giving up 3 runs on 6 hits.

Tigers has ample opportunities, men on 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd and failed to score any of them early on.

Orlando Hudson gonna miss a few days with a banged up wrist

A CT scan of Orlando Hudson's surgically repaired left wrist showed no new injuries, and the Twins hope that the second baseman could return to their lineup in two to three days, general manager Bill Smith wrote in an e-mail to the team's beat reporters on Monday.

Hudson stayed back in Minnesota instead of traveling with the Twins to Seattle for the start of their four-game series with the Mariners on Monday after injuring his left wrist on the final play of Sunday night's 6-3 win over the Rangers. Hudson is scheduled to fly to Seattle on Tuesday to rejoin the team.

Twins hold on to win 5-4

kinda weird to see our 2nd baseman tonight

Michael Cuddyer.......yep our normal RF and sometimes 1B played 2B tonight and actually did pretty good. Made some decent plays

SEATTLE -- Michael Cuddyer and Nick Punto were sitting by each other on the team plane to Seattle late on Sunday night and hashing out possible scenarios of who could play second base, since Orlando Hudson had stayed back in Minnesota to get his surgically-repaired left wrist examined following a collision during the last play of their contest against the Rangers.

The best scenario that they came up with was to have Cuddyer shift to second base for Monday's series opener against the Mariners -- a position he hadn't started at in nearly five years. So Punto headed to the back of the plane and suggested the idea to manager Ron Gardenhire.

"Gardy said he had already been thinking about it," Cuddyer said. "I guess I solidified it."

Cuddyer, who is the club's primary right fielder, got the start at second base for the first time since July 23, 2005, at Detroit. He has played the position only once since that season -- an inning in a contest against Baltimore on Aug. 26 of last year -- but the versatile veteran continued to show his willingness to do whatever his team needs. That includes being the backup first baseman when Justin Morneau needs a day off from the field this season.

"By no means would I ever be like, 'I'm an outfielder. Never put me anywhere else,'" Cuddyer said. "This is the best fit for today. We'll see how it goes."

With Alexi Casilla still hampered by a sore right elbow and unavailable to start, Gardenhire decided to turn to Cuddyer at the position. It also allowed him to put together a strong offensive lineup, as three of his bats are in the lineup together for only the third time this season, with Jim Thome at designated hitter, Jason Kubel in right field and Delmon Young in left field.

Open your eyes guy .....

I said at the beginning of the season that it would come down to the Tigers and the Twin with it probably going to the last week /end and thats what I expect to happen.

You keep saying that they won't win the division, thats the EASY call.
Anyone can come in and take the field.......

Jimbo, you are correct, this team is GOOD enough to stay competitive in this division. They were last season, and I rate this years team a little better. Just get into the playoffs and anything can happen in a 7 game series. Maybe DetFan is just reacting to the recent losing streak. Attitudes change when your team is winning.

GO TIGERS!

Not reacting to anything..I just said they are not as good as the writers and Tiger suck people in this town think they are..I did not when the season started or think now they will contend..Minnesota got way better, we did not. I was accused of giving up on them, and that is not the case, I have nothing to give up. I enjoy watching them and will continue to do so, I just have lower expectations than the less than realistic thinking people.

I picked 'em to finish 2nd in the AL Central for two reasons: (1) they do not play .500 ball on the road and (2) they are inconsistent. While I hope that I am dead wrong, I still have not seen anything to make me change my opinion going into June...however, getting rid of "What you talking about" Willis was a step in the right direction.

Well I picked them 3rd, because I think the White Sox are better, that certainly has not shown yet but they appear to be playing better now. What I cannot believe is there are 4 NL teams inquiring about Dontrelle today including FLorida and Arizona..So perhaps we actually get something out of him..Not much but better that just giving away 29 million bucks,.

You mean Dontrelle "Ball Four" Willis ?

Well, I doubt that we get much money back for him if any .....
That was the single dumbest thing I have seen Mr. I do in a LONG time, giving him 29 M without even pitching a pitch at the time.

At the moment with a losing streak in tact they are only 4 games under .500 on the road.
So, it is possible for them to play .500 ball on the road, it's not like that possibility is GONE ...... yet .

btw, tonight is going to be interesting ..... to see if Bonderman can continue on his very good outing the last time out . He's been coming around the last 3-4 starts, lets hope he can keep it going.

Just wondering .... Memorial Day weekend.

Tigers catchers are hitting .153 and .158 with 3 home runs and 7 rbi's on the year COMBINED .....

Joe Mauer has 3-7 in a single week.

Tigers catching D is very good with Laird and not bad with Avilla (Avilla being the rookie that is suppose to hit.... eventually.

Do the Tigers have interest in Pudge Rodriguez at the trade deadline currently hitting .325 with 1 HR and 16 RBI's.

Shortstop ....
Adam Everett splitting time with Ramon Santiago
Everett hitting .197 and 4 rbi
Santiago a bit better .257 1 HR and 7 rbi's

Everett was brought over for his Defense and he's played well defensively as has Laird ....... but how can you possibly contend with 2 positions hitting under .200.

To make matters worse, at Third base Brandon Inge who hit very well last year till his bad knees took him out of the line up ... can't hit his weight this year either, maybe barely .... .219.

Inge's contract is up ..... but I expect them to bring him back, his D* is AWESOME, that will keep him here.

Back to SS, they have a split situation with Santiago and Everett, is it time to bring up Brent Dlugach from down on the farm, but he's only hitting .258, thats still better than whats up here now.

Or call back up Danny Worth and see if he can play SS, he IS hitting .333 in the Bigs till be was sent down when Gullien came back up.

Should they be looking for a top SS at the trade deadline or in the off season ?

They have way too many OUTs in the line up to contend .... that said, they are only a few games out of 1st.

Make changes NOW or wait and see if it turns around ?

With Laird and Everett hitting behind him there is no reason to serve up anything hittable to Inge. I'm betting his numbers would be better if he was hitting 5th or 6th.

Right now it doesn't matter. It seems like Cabrera is the only one hitting right now. Everybody they have faced in the last week or so looks like they should be on the All-Star team. I hope they snap out of this soon. I usually don't see this kind of hitting until September.:(

WEEI's Dennis and Callahan to be simulcast live on NESN

Don't look now, but Steve Lavin is making St. John's relevant again
