I just bought a WD 1.5TB EHD to add to a 211 receiver. Would it be better to get it activated by a DIRT member or call DISH customer service? I don't want to bother DIRT for this unless their job includes taking care of routine matters like this.

We can certainly assist you with activating the EHD on your account. Please PM me the account information!:)

Since you work for the company, maybe you should tell him that the 211 is only approved for up to 1TB. Or are you just another CSR who doesn't know what they're doing, or what they're selling????

FYI...
211/211k up to 1 TB

622/722/722k/922 up to 2 TB

There are several posts on this website that say that a 1.5 is working just fine on the 211.... Our DIRT team is NOT just some other CSR, they are a god-send....

Expanding DVR Storage

You are correct that DISH Network only supports up to a 1.0 TB Hard Drive on the 211 receivers. Members have successfully connected 1.5 TB Hard Drives to a 211 and it works fine. Satellite Guys has always been the cutting edge for what our receivers can and cannot do. The Op has been up and running with his Hard Drive since he PM'ed me yesterday.

I bet he feels pretty low now after insulting a DIRT team member over this.

Thanks to maryb my 211/EHD was up and running within about an hour of first PM-ing her. She added the EHD to my account and I followed the onscreen prompts. And FWIW to whomever needs it: The Internet, and to some small extent, even this forum have instances of outdated and erroneous information. Make sure your evidence is rock-solid before condemning someone. This forum is full of posts where our DIRT members have helped with our account problems and solved technical problems. If only all CSRs were as knowledgeable and helpful as our DIRT members!!!
