Well, my 1st generation original 921 just stopped working. I must have been one of the lucky ones, have never had a problem since day 1. What I'll miss the most is that I had my locals OTA guide data, even though I only get distants. I miss this the most on my 622's.

Green power light was on, wouldn't respond by remote or button push. First tried resetting by holding down the power button, then pulling the smart card, to finally unplugging and plugging back in. All 3 times, the hard drive was making an awful clicking sound. The Dish HD network logo would be on screen, but that's it, no error message, no picture, nothing.

So, I saw in some previous messages people were getting 942's for replacements, which is fine. Before I call support, are they still offering a $200 credit for 921's with a 622 purchase? I contemplating just finishing my upgrade path now that my trusty 921 has gone south.

Current lease offer is $200 upfront, $100 back when you return your 921 and $10 credit for 10 months. Essentially a free upgrade, except there is a $6 monthly lease fee with the 622 and the New HD metallic packs cost ~$10 more per month.

I believe if you buy a 622 you can get the same "rebates" and either keep your current programming or upgrade to the Metallic Packs for ~$10 per month more.

The $10 for 10 months may not apply to you if you already have HD programming.

Some dealers are selling 622's for $499.

I don't want to lease, but I'll call and see if I can purchase a 622 and still get the $200 rebate for my 921.

I thought to get the rebate, you have to order direct, and not through a retailer. Maybe I'm wrong?

A little update, no dice on a 622. They were offering it for purchase at $599 with $100 credit. I asked why retailers can sell for $499. They didn't know. I didn't want the lease.

Anyway, they sent me a replacement 921, so I'll hold onto it for now.
