You have to go back a few years with the Big Ten ... I was actually referring to when Ohio State and TTUN were in different divisions ... They played every year.Georgia & Alabama aren't considered rivals in the SEC. Georgia's rivals would be Aubarn followed by Florida and Alabama's would be Aubarn followed by Tennessee.
Back in the 10 team days, Georgia & Alabama hardly ever played. They've just never been considered rivals.
The only permanent cross division match that the Big Ten has is Perdue & Indiana, because they're in the same State. The SEC (as did the ACC) meanwhile gave everyone a permanent cross division opponent to preserve several of the old SEC rivalries (Georgia/Aubarn, Alabama/Tennessee, Florida/LSU).
I do wish the SEC (as well as the ACC) would go to a 9 game schedule though in order to better cycle the other non-divisional games. The expansions to 14 teams have killed the frequency of those games.
I didn't know that Georgia wasn't a Bama rival.
