The rest of the bowls are ones that don't go back nearly as far, as far as I know.

For MANY years bowls were tied to conferences ... it's not the Big Ten/Pac 8 fault your bowls don't like tradition.

Many bowls are still tied to tradition. Most are flexible somewhat though.

Imo the Rose Bowl has done more to hold back the advancement to a playoff of some sort than most anything else.

Hard to argue with that record...:)

Gotta start somewhere .... you can hang your hat on that record for years to come, if they don't play an sec team it's not our doing ...

Btw, you KNOW DAMN WELL they beat Arkansas .... the players play the games, not the ncaa.

I agree ...

Then again, the match up they have this year is a very good one.

Both of these teams would fare well in a game against an sec team.

Well THAT was a REALLY Stupid play by the Spartans QB ....

Lofted the ball with pressure in his face, instead of throwing it in the dirt .... picked off for a TD.

Yeah, don't know what he was thinking, other than "please don't hit me".

Depends on which team. They'd probably overwhelm Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennesse, and Ole Miss State, along with ripping through A&M's "defense". Probably beat Georgia with Murray out, and Florida with this year's team.
LSU they'd probably take, and Auburn if they don't get a last second miracle. Probably have a though time competing with the rest though.

I wish the SEC was tough top to bottom, but it has it's share of bottom feeders and down teams.

So one win then? Vacated with an notation? ;)

Cling to that my friend. :)

I for one am damn glad yall beat Arkansas. Gave us the slot in the bcs champ game the next year. Much appreciated.

Well, that covered MOST of the teams ... who's left, Bama ?

I think Auburn and Bama are the ones that would be the most difficult ... I'm gonna add Ohio State in there with MSU and (adopted Stanford !)
I think the Buckeyes and Spartans can play with ANY sec team ... maybe not beat them, but it could go either way ... Personally I think Bama's the Top Dog and Auburn got lucky to get there .... 2 last second miracles are why they are where they are today.

I am hoping Auburn wins next week, but I could see it going either way.

And of course all you sec guys can take credit for another win if Auburn does win .... why, because thats what you do best .... :)

And if the Buckeyes should win the next sec game, you guys will just say the same thing year after year ... only 1 win ... and then after the next Buckeye win you'll say , only 2 wins ... so it will be awhile before the sec arrogance is removed .... but thats OK.

I agree, and that's why I listed the teams as I did.

I don't see any credit being claimed next week though, I have a feeling Auburn's luck is about to run out big time against the Noles.

History is history. Michigan practically owns the SEC based on past matchups (23-7-1), but no way they could take half the conference right now.

If....if...If

I'm giving you crap Jimbo. I actually like the Buckeyes and the big ten honestly because of history. Lots of respect. Even if the sec beats them like a red headed step child lately.

I know it was vacated, but I didn't see any red headed step children beaten in the Sugar Bowl a couple years ago ;)

Boy, the more you watch the MSU QB, the more you can see he's very young, only took over as a starter mid way thru the year ... he's thrown some really bad passes that should have been picked as well as the one that has been.

MSU has the lead, but Stanford is getting the breaks ... this is gonna be interesting, last 5 minutes 4th quarter, 24-20 MSU.

In the last drive, Stanford got a VERY favorable spot on a 1st down run by the QB, looked like his shoulder landed about a yard short and the ball tucked in his chest.

Then Stanford, muffs a FG try and throws a pass, caught, but had ineligible recvrs down field.
Penalty on Stanford, but they still get the FG chance and make good on it.
