I'm sure he knows his player better than you. Still, it was a big mistake for Leyland to include Brad "Melon Head" Penny on the playoff roster and it will be mistake for Leyland not to pitch Verlander on Sunday...and he should hide Porcello as much as possible. Regardless, I hope it doesn't rain again this evening.

Maybe Verlander is not as good on 3 days rest? Maybe he is comfortable with his rotation...either way you look at it, he is the manager with a World Series win and if we were all that good, we too would have a World Series under our belt. ;-)

Nobody knows, I believe J.V. has never pitched with 3 days rest.

Scherzer is pitching well so far. He looks very comfortable and is in control of his pitches.
He has not given up a hit, but he is not pitching well nor is he in control. He has made too many pitches, been too wild, has given up too many walks, and does not seem to have very good command.

I disagree...I've seen Scherzer pitch all season and he is pitching well.
Maybe you are comparing Scherzer to Scherzer instead of comparing this particular performance to that of other well pitched games. Seeing him pitch for the first time, I see a pitcher that is very wild and is fortunate to still be in the game. He is wild enough to be effective as his pitches are not only fooling the batter, they are also fooling the catcher and himself.

I'm comparing Scherzer to Scherzer and Scherzer to pitchers doing what they're supposed to do...which is getting outs and not allowing runs. In fact, the headline on ESPN's MLB site, MLB - Major League Baseball Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - ESPN, shows a picture of Scherzer with the heading, "Doing his Job." Although he's not pitching a Verlanderesque game, he's pitching well and doing his job. I'm sure most Tigers fans are happy with his performance.

Headline or not (which probably has to do with him not giving up any runs), he did not last long was was far from impressive. Perhaps I am used to seeing NL West pitchers whom have won the NL Cy Young 10 out of the last 13 years, but few of his pitches seemed to go where he wanted them to go.

I know NY and Det probably have the best ratings, but IMO the other series are far more interesting to watch. Yankee games just seem to drag on and move at a snails pace.

ESPN just updated the headline to "In Command - Max Scherzer's strong start has put the Tigers in a great spot in Game 2." Scherzer pitched a good game, he allowed no-runs, end of story! ;)

Happy Halloween Everyone!

ESPN's special called "unguarded"...
