2011 MLB Playoffs

Just as long as they get this one in the Rangers will be headed south with or without the Tigers following. Okay, worst case scenario...what happens if they don't get the game in tonight? Because of the forecast it's safe to say they won't get the game in on Friday or possibly even Saturday. Do they travel back down to Texas to complete Game 5?

Uh, no. They will play game 5 in Detroit like they are supposed to. Remember back in the 1975 World Series where they had a few rain outs in a row.

Why would Jim Leyland announce he's not using Valverde or Benoit? That just gives the Rangers the heads up that they won't be seeing either pitcher tonight.

Other the it's Jim leyland being Jim leyland, he just saying be ready for 9 innings big guy

My rule is to try not to figure leyland out, head will just spin

So much for locking it up today. Rangers are playing like crap.

I say the Tigers are playing much better. :) We needed Verlander to go 8-strong innings because our bullpen is tired (seems like Benoit and Valverde come in every game they're ahead) and the middle relievers have given us a lot of problems. A day off (two for the bullpen) should do wonders for some of the nagging injuries.

Cruz has absolutely KILLED Tiger pitching. Heck, if it wasn't for Cruz the Tigers could be playing a close-out game this evening. He has been the Rangers MVP this series. Hopefully he will miss the team plane and have to walk back to Texas. :)

Verlander's 132nd pitch was a 100 mph fastball (superhuman) and Cruz nailed it.

Congrats Tiger fans on a game that the Tigers needed. The Rangers made it interesting. You talk about Nelson Cruz, what about Delmon Young? I can see the Tigers winning Game 6 because Derek Holland didnt last 3 innings and Max Scherzer got a no decision. I just think the advantage goes to the Tigers.

On an side note, who was the genius that decided "Hey, lets change the popular MLB ON FOX theme to the NFL ON FOX theme"?

Yikes, I feel asleep after the last pitch...just hope I can get back to sleep. Anyway, another thing that has killed the Tigers this series---the ALDS too---is Alburquerque hasn't been the same since getting beaned in the outfield during batting practice and suffering a concussion back in August. The Tigers will need a stellar pitching performance from Scherzer on Saturday - Max has been throwing well.

Please implore Fox to bring Terry Francona back into the booth for McCarver. Or let TBS cover the Series. McCarver has Joe Morgan/Jon Gruden disease...talk, talk talk, talk, talk...and somewhere in that speech is a point.

I liked Francona, and I love Darling and Smoltz...they play off each other nicely, never trying to 'one-up' each other. They actually seem to enjoy doing games together, and it shows.

After watching fox and tbs I would not mind a silent booth :)

I like the TBS crew...it's Buck and McCarver I can do without. Not to mention all of Fox's stupid crowd shots, before important pitches, of fans pensively awaiting the outcome of the pitch. Jeez, stay with the action already.

I couldn't agree more Sandra. Buck and McCarver are awful to say the least. Buck sounds like he doesn't care and McCarver sounds like, well, McCarver. Clueless more often than not. For someone that played as long as he did, how could he know so little about the game? You are right about the crowd shots, too. Whoever is the director really has no idea what he is doing. I also hate the extreme close ups. I don't need to be able to count someone's nose hairs!

My dad did that when I was growing up. He would turn on the Rangers game on TV and mute it, and turn on the radio and listen to the radio broadcast while watching. I may have to do the same tomorrow night.

Except they weren't very objective.

I don't understand why Fox doesn't air the home games using the existing Fox Sports Detroit and Fox Sports Southwest broadcast teams. That would save Fox money, the fans would love it, and nobody would be subject to the undynamic-duo of Buck-McCarver; win-win-win. :)

The Detroit fans might love it, but it's a national telecast...meaning most of the audience are NOT Tiger fans.
