2011 MLB Playoffs

How often does the game 5 winner win the series when the last two games are played on the road?

I'm sure it would depend if the game 5 winner was ahead or behind in the series. In the case of the Tigers, I suspect their odds would be in the 15% range but that's merely my guesstimate since I can't find the information anywhere. Anyway, you asked a great question...I would love to know the answer.

Jimbo, the part you're missing is the winner of game 5 "with the series was tied at two games" goes on to win...etc.

The Tigers were down 3-1 and the odds are still stacked against them since they will have to win three-in-a-row. Regardless, I have faith in the Tigers being able to win two in Arlington. :)

Well .... they didn't go into enough detail !

Three occasions come to mind (although there's probably more):

1979 World Series- Pirates were down 1-3 to the Orioles and came back and won the series, including Games 6 and 7 in Baltimore

1985 ALCS- Royals were down 1-3 to the Blue Jays and came back and won the series, including Games 6 and 7 in Toronto

2004 ALCS- Red Sox were down 0-3 to the Yankees and came back and won the series, including Games 6 and 7 in New York

Saturday- American League Championship Series- Game 6

Tigers (Scherzer) at Rangers (Holland)-8:05pm ET (FOX)- Rangers lead series 3-2

Sherzer's NOT staying on top of his pitches tonight, thus he's been somewhat wild and now OUT of the game.

edit:
Hadn't realized that THAT was his 4th walk.
