2011 AL Central Thread

No room to talk. How are the Pirates doing lately? :)

From the beginning of the season I have said they will lose 90 games, when they were in first that was a bonus. I know they aren't good enough to win the division and I'm not gonna pretend they are like some people do with their teams.

Um, I'm pretty sure no one expected the Indians to be this good either. By most accounts, they're 1-2 years ahead of where we thought they'd be after being completely rebuilt the last few years. They're the feel good story of the year. And I'm loving every minute of it.

They got off with a very good start, lets see how they finish.

We're competing for the division and we're deep into August. That's good enough for me. Anything else is a bonus.

Now I'm not putting down your team, lets face it my team is the worst team in the last 19 years, but if your team was in the AL East how good would they be doing?

3rd place maybe. Most teams would struggle against the Red Sox and Yankees. The good thing is, if we make the playoffs, all it takes is a best of 5 or 7 game series to move on. We've proven this year we can stand toe-to-toe with those teams in a series.

Yup,
Detroit and Cleveland would be in 3rd in the AL East, nothing to worry about...
Both Clavaland and Detroit can take care of the yankees if needed.

Tigers record against them have been pretty good the last 2-3 years.

Cy's Pirates would STILL be out of the basement, ahead of Toronto !

Cy, your Pirates are not even the worst team in the MLB this year .... Houston and Seattle and Baltimore hold that accomplishment.

Yeah but a losing season is still bad. They need to finish above 500

Hey, I just noticed something, for all the people that complain about the Tigers and thier miserable ROAD record every year they are 10 + games under .500 ...
They are currently at the .500 mark on the road. :)

I noticed that too. Of course, with a .500 road record and Verlander compiling a league-leading 18-5 mark...my question is where are the Tigers failing? I'll provide my answer in 30-minutes.

2B, CF (offensively), Back end of the Starting rotation ... Middle Relief (although it was pretty good last week.

With the Tribe 1.5 games back, it'll take a sweep to put us ahead (by 1.5 games). If we win 2 out of 3, which is probably more likely, we'll still be back .5 games.

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
