Gruden not all he is hyped to be??

King: 'If (Gruden's) not the center of attention, that's a problem'

Chucky isn't going to like this.

Jon Gruden delivered Tampa Bay its first Super Bowl victory back in January 2003, but two of his former players suggest the fiery coach alienated the ranks during his stint with the Bucs.

Former Pro Bowl wideout Keyshawn Johnson clearly had issues playing for Gruden, telling an ESPN audience last month that "it was just something about the way I was being coached, talked to, dealt with."

Granted, that's from a gentleman who spent most of his career known around town as "Meshawn," and not for his charitable work. The again, he's not the only ex-Buc to air his dirty laundry.

Shaun King, who played quarterback in Tampa from 1999-2003, claims Gruden had that effect on others and called him "inherently dishonest."

"As much excitement as Jon Gruden created when he was hired here, as much enthusiasm surrounded him coming here and helping us win a Super Bowl, I think, when you look back on it, it's pretty obvious he wasn't a guy that a lot of his players were endeared to after being around him for an extended period of time," King told WQYK-AM, via ProFootballTalk and JoeBucsFan.com.

"I'm not sure it still exits, but Jon has a major character flaw in that, if he's not the center of attention, that's a problem. It is what it is. Ala the 'Chucky face.' You look at the NFL Films, it's just ironic, anytime that he's mic'd up or filmed, the 'Chucky face,' you know, it's showcased a lot more than normal."

Gruden's name is still thrown around with Bill Cowher's at the top of wish lists whenever head coaching vacancies arise. Love him or hate him, he's one of those coaches who can bring immediate attention and relevance to a struggling franchise, and -- if he chooses to return to the game -- he'd likely have his pick of available jobs, despite the complaints of assorted former players.

out of those two i rather have cowher. but i'd take chucky anytime over sparano.

TERRIBLE move!!!

I'm not sure it's official, but he's not at practice today. Neither is McFadden or Chris Johnson, I think the latter is being put on IR and they signed Lito Sheppard for his roster spot. Sheppard's 3rd team since leaving the Eagles in 2008. He was with Oakland during the preseason but didn't make the 53 man roster. The "pro bowl corner" hasn't been to one since 2006.

They're giving Lito Sheppard Asomugha's #21.

He signed yesterday. No so much terrible to sign TJ, but to let go of Hagans. He has performed well when called upon and I think he is better than TJ. I can see WHY they signed him(more so than anything, familiarity with Palmer)...but I sure as hell don't like the release. I think that they let go of someone already on the roster for Lito Sheppard.

Sandra, are you ready for the Jets to rumble with the mighty Bills?

I think Gang Green goes down and down hard.

Neither a Jet victory or loss would surprise me. As usual I have no clue how Gang Mouthy Coach's team will come out of the gate for a game.

It's easier to predict the amount of pages of a Tim Tebow or Lebron James Satellite Guys argument (take the over!) than to predict the Jets.

Newlywed or not, you either have a dirty mind or not, you obviously have one. Must be that NJ thing like the Kardashians. lol :D

LOL we're newlyweds...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! :D

But other than Kris Humphries, what on earth does NJ have to do with the Kardashians? That's like me saying it's a Pittsburgh thing like Lindsay Lohan!

McFadden in a walking boot and crutches on the sideline at practice. Local ESPN says it doesn't look too good for him playing in either of the games the Raiders have in the next 8 days.

Yep...not good. They will have to unleash brute force(Michael Bush) and later, hopefully gash'em with speed in Taiwan Jones.... ;-)

Apparently, they have yet to mention that Chris Johnson is on IR or not. Supposedly he "progessing"...whatever that means.
