The Pats' special teams are going to have a tough act to follow when they head to South Florida. Remember what they did last year?

Whats gonna happen with these teams is, first, the team needs to get UNDER the CAP before they can sign ANYONE.
Then you'll see teams cutting players and potentially resigning them at a cheaper Cap rate.

 How can teams get under the cap unless they cut players and rework contracts??

They will officially CUT players first ... thus getting under the cap and then resign those that they want, FA's included when the time comes. What did they say, Friday or Sat to officially sign FA's.

I say let him sit. If he didn't want to play then he shouldn't have signed the contract. He hasn't been that great. They did better when they let the running backs run and let him pass every now and then.
i disagree with this. its an emotional move by the owner who should understand this is a business first. GET something for him. thats letting your business side take over. its moves like this which explain why the Bengals are addicted to losing seasons. Palmer ain't coming back. get something to help your team. by the way what does this tell other players around the league about this organization? you better think twice before you sign there. i heard Mike brown say how carson made a commitment when he signed that contract and he wasn't going to reward palmer for not keeping his word.
come on now! contracts don't mean much in the NFL. what does mike brown do like every other owner does???? when an owner isn't happy with a player they cut them despite of what contract may be in place. so i don't want to hear about commitment out of Mr. Brown's mouth. this is just a spiteful move, period.

Like I said...at least Al Davis let him go....LOL!

I bet this is Brown's way of getting back at Palmer for all of those interceptions the last few years!!!! :)

Rumors out of Oakland is that sadly, the Raiders will have to let Nnamdi go because of the price tag. Their have also been some heavy rumors that with letting Nnamdi go, they will seek out both Antonio Cromartie AND Dashon Goldson...also letting Michael Huff go. They are close to re-sign Zack "mediocre TE" Miller and picking up much needed OL help Kelly Gregg.

The Washington Redskins, Vikings and Donovan McNabb have a preliminary agreement in place for the veteran quarterback to be traded to Minnesota, sources told ESPN.

The compensation issues that were one of the stumbling blocks to the trade appear to be resolved. The one sticking point now appears to be that McNabb was concerned Tuesday night about how the Vikings' side of the situation was handled.

McNabb will be making far less than the $14.75 million he would have been due were he to play for the Redskins this year. It is not yet clear how much or how any incentives in the new deal would alter his compensation.

Spot on....

No, Mike Brown is looking backward, looking at the 2005 contract extension that Palmer signed to keep him in Cincinnati through the 2014 season. Brown calls that a “commitment.” And since Palmer isn’t living up to his part, Brown isn’t going to let him out by trading him for the players and/or draft picks that can help the Bengals and Andy Dalton.

Instead, Mike Brown will let his stubbornness handcuff the franchise. Again.

“Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment,” Brown said on Tuesday. “He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it.”

Let’s get the most obvious bit of foolishness out of the way here. Commitment? What is this, couples’ therapy? There are no commitments in the NFL. Players get cut. Coaches get fired. Heck, the entire collective bargaining agreement was just reworked when Brown and his fellow owners locked the entire league out. Yes, they had the legal right, just as marriages have the legal right to end in divorce but it doesn’t say much for commitment.

Mike Brown sees this as some battle of ancient principle when he should see it as the ultra-competitive business of football. In 2008, the Washington Redskins offered two first-round picks for Chad Ochocinco(notes). Brown turned it down. We’re guessing coach Marvin Lewis would’ve taken the two picks.

Palmer has value and Tuesday’s quarterback free-for-all is proof of it. The Seattle Seahawks just made deals to bring in Tarvaris Jackson(notes) and Matt Leinart(notes) to hopefully get them back to the playoffs. Tavaris Jackson and Matt Leinart?

The Philadelphia Eagles are weighing offers on backup Kevin Kolb(notes), knowing they’ll get plenty in return. Matt Hasselbeck(notes) is in demand. Kyle Orton(notes) may fetch a deal for Denver. Minnesota is trying to trade for Donovan McNabb(notes). Vince Young(notes) is even an option.

Palmer is better than those guys, a heck of a lot better than most of them. He threw for nearly 4,000 yards last season, 26 touchdowns against 20 interceptions on a hopeless team. He’s not old and you never know what he still has in him, perhaps even a return to the middle of the last decade when he was one of the game’s best.

The Bengals should assess the situation and realize Palmer is gone. Maybe he’s being a jerk. Maybe he’s being disloyal. Whatever. It happens. There’s value there and the Bengals need value.

They are about to trot out a rookie quarterback and if there was a way to get him a little more help – offensively or defensively – with whatever Palmer might fetch in live bodies or strong draft picks, not to mention the breathing room of dumping his $11.5 million contract, then that’s the Bengals’ best hope.

Instead, Bengal fans get talk about commitment and the promise of extreme stubbornness that might explain why Cincinnati so often struggles to get out of its own way.

In regard to the Carson Palmer situation and mike brown, not defending players but does the commitment stand with owners when they can release a player still in contract?

Owners ALWAYS seem to forget that loyalty is a 2 way street...

After signing Santana Moss and Donte Stallworth, the Redskins pick up another WR by sending DE Jeremy Jarmon to Denver in exchange for WR Jabar Gaffney reuniting him with Shanahan.

This is the first completed trade of the new year.
