Comparing drafting Tim Tebow to the potential of the Indianapolis Colts drafting Andrew Luck, when Tebow was drafted in the first round of the draft(even though he was a late first round pick),I remember the critics & talking heads criticizing the pick & saying that the Broncos had to start Tim Tebow because they drafted him so highly. They couldn't just have him sit on the bench & learn because he was such a high draft pick. Now if the Colts have the overall first pick,& Andrew Luck comes out of college to enter the draft,AND the Colts draft him, you'll hear the critics & talking heads do a complete 180 & talk about how brilliant the draft pick was,how Luck will sit & learn from Peyton Manning,& they'll compare it to Aaron Rodgers & Brett Favre. You won't hear a single critic(Merrill Hoge,Trent Dilfer, etc.) say that because he was drafted so highly,he has to start immediately(unless he is drafted by the Dolphins & then that goes without saying).

Thats because they have a STUD at QB already.
Most highly regarded QB's come into the league to a team that is crap and they need to play them, those that go to better teams have time to learn behind the established QB.

Luck would sit and learn from Manning, much like Farve and Rodgers.
Roethlisberger came in and did not start either while going to a good team, he ended up starting because of injury though.

Should those same standards have been applied to Aaron Rodgers his rookie season? If the Colts get Andrew Luck & Peyton manning Comes back healthy, should Luck start immediately?

If Peyton is Healthy and the Colts manage to get Luck, NO, Luck should not start immediately, unless of course Peyton is traded away.

I have heard rumors that IF the Colts are in position to draft Luck that Peyton would balk at it.

Sorry Peyton, the owner has to look out for the good of the WHOLE TEAM, not just the QB that is aging and injured.

I'm curious where you heard that. With three neck surgeries since he last played, Manning is in no position to "balk at" anything....

All the people saying Tebow should be sitting on the bench instead of playing, well if he was any kind of QB, he should be playing and playing well he's a high draft pick he should be a good player.

That's just plain dumb!

He did not pick himself in the first round. He was a projected 3-4 rounder. McDumbass is the one that drafted him in the first. Everyone knew he was gonna be a project QB.

Great... the Raiders signed TJ Houshmandzadeh. SUPPOSEDLY Palmer's "security blanket" and to "provide leadership to a very talented, yet extremely young WR corps"...

All I know is that a good WR will get cut...

You are right of course, the team comes first, BUT I think the Colts have proven this year Peyton WAS the team.

Also, before Peyton got hurt he hardly looked like an "aging" QB to me.

um Denver doesn't have a Manning or Rodgers, apples and oranges.

You have the chance to draft the QB that can keep you competitive after Peyton retires? Sorry Peyton, take a chill pill.

You mean Manning or Favre, right? Actually, all QB's are suspect until they start playing & proving their worth. While he wasn't as bad as Tebow,John Elway in his rookie season wasn't pretty either(I still remember him lining up behind the guard instead of the center).

ok let's start making excuses for him, it's not his fault he's a bad QB, even though he got the first round money he shouldn't be treated like one.

next you'll be saying if he had out his way he would of stayed in college for another five years so he could learn his position even more.

And neither was Aikman but they all were better than him. Their mechanics are better.

No I meant Rodgers, Faver doesn't play anymore so why would I use him in an example.

And Peyton Manning is one of the top five quarterbacks EVER.

Maybe Andrew Luck is the next Troy Aikman or the next Ben Roethlisberger.....OR maybe he's the next Rick Mirer or the next Ryan Leaf.

Point is, there's no guarantees with these high draft picks.

Even though you have Peyton Manning,if you had a chance to grab Andrew Luck, wouldn't you take the risk?

Oh I would (I don't really think Luck will be the next Ryan Leaf), but only if they could keep both, and have Manning groom Luck.

There are 4 AFC quarterbacks playing very well this season- Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andy Dalton- yet it's Tebow I seem to hear about the most.

I understand why he's getting the attention. He's one of the greatest ever at the collegiate level, and people are curious how he'll fare at the next level.

EDIT- 10,000 posts.....I'm now a SatGuys "God" :)

Let me tell how overboard this Tebow thing is. Today, I find out my Raiders sign TJ Houshmenzadah... I do a search in Google on "oakland raiders" and then select "news". I get two hyperlinks about the signing, then the rest and/or the rest of the links were all about Tebow being named the starters against the "oakland raiders"..

WTF....??!! My search was for the Raiders...not Tebow.

I agree. It's unbelievable how this whole Tebow thing has gotten so overblown over the last week and a half now. He's an overrated QB who sucks. Get over it people.
