Yeah... I mean they take longer for more OBVIOUS TDs than this one....I too thought he had 2 feet down...they barely showed any replays...

I never understood that call, if you run it in only the ball needs to cross the line why not on a catch.

Terrible whistle by the refs. They blew the whistle before the play was really completed...SHOULD have been a fumble and 49ers ball.

Uh uh, forward motion. First call the zebras DID get right all night. The awful calls against the Giants this playoff season are staggering.

Of course the league is going to back up the decision, but the fact of the matter is that all TD's are supposed to be reviewed. Especially the really close ones. Just wondering why this one wasn't. Especially considering the stakes.

Again, I agree it should have been reviewed, but the NFL only automatically reviews scoring plays. This was ruled an incomplete pass.

However, since it fell inside of two minutes it should have been reviewed.

I thought it was too fast to tell if he had control...but once you slow it down... then you can see...catch, 1 then 2 feet and immediately after the 2nd foot planted... ball popped lose.

I'm not a fan of either team- Pats division rival, Giants beat us in SB XXV and have owned usrcetly.

Convince me which side to root for in 2 weeks.

The Giants are 3.5 pt. dogs....When in doubt, go for the underdog. Plus, many people think of Belichick as a guy who should be wearing a Darth Vader helmet for running up the score on people over the years, bad sportsmanship (running off the field in SB42 with time still on the clock, etc.). Plus, Boston has been winning a ton of championships over the last ten years (baseball, hockey, football, ...basketball too I think, but I don't follow that close so I could be wrong on that one.).

Finally, the Pats MVP this postseason is Tom Brady, a gazillionaire who married a supermodel. The Giants MVPs are Eli, the baby brother trying to step out of his big brother's shadow, Victor Cruz, a walk on WR earning the NFL minimum wage who is thankful to be in the Show, much less going to the Super Bowl, and Chase Blackburn, a defensive player cut by the Giants before the season, but who was called up due to injuries and has helped make the Giants secondary beasts on defense again (plus he returns kicks to boot).

How's that for a pitch? Can we count on your support?

I think he has become MORE elite than his older brother. Man, I WANNA like the Giants in this Super Bowl BECAUSE of Eli and Cruz being the 1st Puerto Rican to either play or either have a prominent role on the team... but there are SOOOO many douche bag Giant fans that kill that good vibe.

Yes, because Boston fans are the picture of civility....

Because it WASN'T ruled a TD. The automatic review is only triggered when points are scored. I think he did have two feet down and it should have been a TD, but I only saw the highlights on SportsCenter and they didn't linger on it. I think they REALLY need to tweak the replay system this offseason as the calls have been horrible.... My suggestions:

1: Unlimited challenges if you keep winning them, but two wrong ones and you don't get any more (to discourage overuse)
2: Ditch the replay official review within 2 minutes and OT. Bad calls should be reversed, whether or not the replay official is quick enough on the trigger or not..... Keep the red flags in the coaches hands throughout the game...
3: Enough with this wanting to stay with the call on the field. You aren't protecting the refs, you are exposing them to criticism hotter than the surface of the sun. If he screws up and the call is properly reversed, his bad call is forgotten. If it costs a team the game, it is talked about for years, along with a seething hatred for the NFL brand for allowing the injustices to continue.
4: Broadcasters can help make this happen by blasting the refs when they make a bad call. Shrugging it off just allows the commissioner cover to allow the flawed process to continue uncorrected.

For what it's worth, that was not the point I am trying to make. I dislike the Pats for my obvious "Tuck" reasons... M statement has nothing to do with the Pats fans... I know quite a few and 99.99% are good fans. And I know a TON of Giant fans and 90% are a step below most JETS fans...(Hell, I give credit where credit is due...Sandra and I have our disagreements, but she is one of the VERY few good JETS fans...) the only difference is that after winning a few Super Bowls...then stinking up the joints a few times... the Giant fans have become a little more humble.

Good points and I agree with them.

WOW......on my TV, it clearly showed the ball pop out a nanosecond before the left foot came down. Must be my silver and blue colored glasses. ;)

Damn Bill...if you don't know the Raider colors after this many years.... SILVER AND BLACK!!! Silver and black... You are describe LIONS colors...with "silver and blue"!!!!:p

Early line for the Super Bowl favors the Pats by 3/3.5. Surprising especially considering the injury to Gronk.

SPOOKY 2007 parallels continue..... Back then Brady had the boot, now it is Gronk..... Last week, Nicks catches the hail mary on his helmet like Tyree. This is REALLY weird. This year, Pack is undefeated when the Giants face them in the regular season and they lose a hard fought game 38-35. In 2007, the Giants played the Pats, an undefeated team, whom they play a hard fought game and lose 38-35, but beat them in the postseason. In 2007, the Giants are expected to lose as they go on the road to play in adverse weather conditions (extreme cold) at Lambeau. This year, they go on the road to San Fran to play in adverse weather conditions (heavy rain). In both games, they go to OT, with the Giants capitalizing on miscues by the offense (2007: Favre interception, 2011: a punt return fumble) to set up a game winning FG by a Scottish field goal kicker named Tynes.

Anxious to see if Giants can keep this going in two weeks.....

I'm not even sure if I understand the rules on a play like the Evans catch/noncatch. Is it as simple as having two feet down and control of the ball for at last what...an instant?...a second?...more than that?

Calvin Johnson had two feet in the end zone last year and then dropped the ball a second or two later as he went to the ground, and it was ruled no catch.

I'm confused.

Nope, his forward progress had clearly stopped.

I don't think I understand the rules on this one either. So as soon as you get pushed backward a little there can no longer be a fumble? That doesn't sound right. If a player gets pushed back and not tackled and breaks free, he can still score a touchdown if he's able.

That seemed like an extremely quick whistle.

I take offense to that. Just kidding.;)

Lee Evans, Billy Cundiff or Kyle Williams, who gets ths year's Ernest Byner Championship Sunday Goat Award?

I'm gonna vote for Williams. In the first half the guy DIVES to catch a punt...Seriously? In the wind and rain, he dives?

Then with Frisco up 14-10 and the Giants no longer able to move the ball, he changes the entire game by letting the ball hit him in the knee. Why he was even in the same area code as the ball is totally beyond me.

When the Giants were punting with 19 seconds left in regulation, I couldn't believe Harbaugh STILL had Williams back to receive the punt. There was a teeny tiny chance Williams could have returned that punt for a TD, and a much bigger chance something bad would happen and the Giants would get a chance to win in regulation.

The guy was a panic all day, and at that point the risk/reward ratio was such that Harbaugh should have sent him to AT&T Park and told him to stand inside the big glove in the outfield, and keep an eye out for punts.

The fumble in OT was something everyone (except Harbaugh) saw coming from early in the game.
