2010 NCAA Football Season

Great game.

At the very beginning of the telecast, when the Va Tech band was lined up on the field, the team was waiting in the tunnel to come out, and they started played 'Enter Sandman' and both the band and the fans started jumping...WOW!!!

I got a chill. It was fantastic.

A FEW thoughts on last nights excellent game:

THE GOOD: What a great game. Lead changes, defense at great times, offense at great times and special teams at great times.

The BAD: I hate neutral sites UNLESS it is a bowl game. I do believe that there would have been an even greater feeling to the game if the game was IN Blacksberg. IF this is supposed to be THEIR home game, why not have it in THEIR football stadium? Especially if it is going to be an exchange of home-and-home series.

And THE UGLY: I don't know about you folks....but EVEN if Boise State runs the table, TO ME, there is NO WAY they deserve a BCS championship game over a one loss team out of the SEC, Big 10, Big 12 or even the ACC. Beating a possibly overrated VaTech team the 1st game of the season and beating a so-so team in Oregon State team AT HOME does NOT constitute a "tough schedule". What happens if VAtech runs the table for the rest of the year...with a MUCH tougher schedule, to me, VaTech STILL deserves more consideration than Boise State. This would be great if we had a playoffs system in college football, but there is none. So this win for Boise State killed possibly someone more deserving at a chance to a BCS bowl game or the championship game.

...the good ole "monkey wrench"....LOL!

I am with you Salasdancer. I posted on Sat or Sun. in this thread that both them and TCU can run the table but will drop. A one loss SEC will top them and they should. Just look at the schools they play. If my squad Georgia played the BSU or TCU schedule they would undefeated as well. First off allow any team two-three months to plan for a team and any thing can happen.

the MTN West and WAC are not even close to being a BCS school in my eyes. The Big East is still better and they will have a down year.

This is just my opinion but I know many see it this way.

Well back from FedEx field guys, hell of a game! Wish we could have pulled off the win..Boise played a good game and deserve the win. I'm hoping my Hokies can rebound as they always have to complete another 10+win season and cap it off with another big bowl game win. We still have the chance to run the boards on the rest of the games with a several times stronger schedule than Boise has and could end up meeting again but who knows. I was a little annoyed by the early mistakes but that happens in a 1st game, a little annoyed by some missed or bad calls but can't complain - over all well worth the trip. VT only fell to #13 so everyone that votes and watched that game knows how good of a team they are and will be once they settle down. I wish Boise st all the luck in the remaining schedule!!

The game was always going to be at FedEx field, something both sides worked out last year but it was supposed to be in Oct on a Saturday.... it made it very hard to get to this game due to this.

What about TCU over a one loss team of the Big Ten, ACC. Utah? BYU?:D

IMHOP, TCU or Boise State do not deserve BCS considerations above a 1 loss team from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 or even the ACC IF they were to run the table.
Their schedule does not merrit the justification.

Check conference power ratings end of 2009. If Boise State wins out and a team from the Mountain west wins out and they play each other, if I get this straight, Boise State wins and they can't be rated above bowl winners from the above conferences, because they play in a weak conference. If they lose to TCU, BYU, Utah state those teams can't be rated above winners of the above divisions because they beat Boise State. And we all no anybody that plays on an Orange and Blue field are a bunch of sissy's. Is that right.:D

The next college game will be Auburn/Mississippi State on Thursday.

Anyone who remembers theie 3-2 dud from a few years ago... hopefully this'll be better.

While I basically agree with this, I thought last night had the crowd intensity and feeling of a college stadium atmosphere. That place was ROCKING!

More thoughts...

I agree that it would be bad if Boise State makes it to the BCS championship game, since they would not fare well in the SEC or Big Ten, but it is what it is. Boise finally took on a 'big boy' on the road (sort of), and came away victorious.

I did not like the VaTech uniforms. No reason to sell out to Nike, their regular uniforms are wonderful.

Last night's game almost made me feel like rooting for VaTech the rest of the way. Then you remember the university is known for the loveable Vick brothers, and you stop rooting.

After Boise went up 17-0 VaTech dominated most of the rest of the game. I don't watch Boise when they play crappy teams, so that was really the first time I saw them not play really well.

Now that we know DVR expanding dude's crystal ball is a little foggy , I feel better about his prediction that Miami is going to come to the 'Shoe and annihilate Ohio State!!!

The Sooners dropped to a more realistic #13 in the AP poll after an unimpressive victory over Utah St. If they don't step it up against Florida St. this week, they'll be out of the top 20. So many weaknesses were exposed. :(

I do not care if they played in a purple field that has glowing green dots....Their schedule sucks the rest of the season.....period. And IF VAtech flames out, the schedule becomes even MORE useless for Boise State.

I remember when they use to reward teams that did well with tough schedules....

This isn't a stretch. Is there a reward for a team that goes 28 and 0, how about 42 and 0? Is Ohio State that much more valuable than Boise State? 69vs76 strength of schedule. What about Wisconsin? If the Mountain Wests power rating is higher than the Big 10 or ACC, I just got lost again. I'm a Big 12 guy and the only dog I have in this fight is coastal prejudice.:D

My sentiments exactly. Also a Big 12 guy (for one more season anyway).

Wonder if we're more objective about this because we get to see the Western teams more regularly than fans on the east coast? A lot of them really don't understand just how strong an eastern bias exists. A lot of that is promoted by the media because of the population difference (thus monetary considerations).

I'm a Golden Buffalo and am in search of a team to replace them (So long alma mater). I'v been with Kansas in basketball for years, may have to switch to OkieState for football.:D

If you want to give credence to your arguments, you might want to get your conferences straight. BYU and TCU are in the MWC, Bosie and Utah State in the WAC.

By the way, the weak WAC: Fresno State 28 - Cincinnati 14, Utah 27 - Pitt(#15) 24. If the WAC is a bad as you say, what does that make the Big East?

A Big 12, Big 10, SEC team is going to play 3 or 4 ranked opponents over the course of the season unlike Boise. The few times Boise has played a tough opponent, they have had over a month to prepare. Boise is a good team, but I don't think they would fare as well as they have, if they had to play week after week against top teams.

The Big East is having a down year. That was said Saturday during College Gameday. WAC is what it stands for WORTHLESS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE. Utah realizes they need to move to get the recognition so they are.

OU only fell to #10 in the AP this week.

The entire defense is going to have step it up or Florida St will end that home winning streak and I don't want to see that. The offense needs a little work too, but the defense really let them down most of the day.

I was hoping for a good year from OU and OSU. Make bedlam in Stillwater just a little more interesting this year.

Utah is also in the Mountain West. Boise State has joined the Mountain West, not sure whether it is 2011 or 2012. A defence that Boise State was doing what they could to get stiffer competition by joining a very tough conference. Utah State is in the WAC:D
