2010 NCAA Football Season

Ohh I'm saying scoring more against them than any other team speaks alot for VT's offense and for about the first 3quarters of the game fans including myself thought we had a chance which was more than I figured to begin with. That Tenn game was weird..almost as weird as that Tenn vs LSU game this year with similar response that should have had a penalty against the other team for Tenn to win. Remember the Alabama player #62 that took his helmet off and threw it to the ground to celebrate before the play was dead and the Bama players picked up the ball to run with it? Well that's a instant penalty for unsportsmanlike that wasn't but should have been called.. same went for LSU players this year but wasn't. I'm sure ya remember and it doesn't really matter now but stuff like this has to stop and the Ref's need to make it stop by throwing flags.

Time 2:03 shows it up close:

You crack me up. The clock had run out when that kid took off his helmet. Same in the LSU/Tenn game. As far as the player knows, the game is over. Taking a helmet off then out of disgust or elation is no different than players running onto the field, fans throwing things, or anything anyone does when they think the game has ended, no matter how you spin it. To my knowledge, no ref has ever made a chickensh*t call like that and never will. Only sore losers, pseudo-sports analysts, or jealous fans of other teams would bring BS like that up. It' ridiculous. And I'm sure if you look for it there's footage somewhere of one of your precious Hokies doing the same thing.

And speaking of your Hokies, the rest of us may take your attempts to pump them up more seriously when they actually "win" a game against one of the big boys from the SEC, Big10, Big12, or PAC10. ;)

Kind of like a moral victory? :D

No, you miss it. The clock may have run out but the play isn't dead till the ball is down after the block and before bama players picked it up to down it (which they could have ran it back) the helmet came off clear as day. As for the LSU/Tenn game well its hard to say on the time line but you still can't do that and my "precious hokies" doing the same thing....feel free to show me that they did..by all means. And pumping up VT is cause I'm a fan, your a fan of whomever that's fine there is nothing wrong with it and VT is winning and yes they did win big in last years bowl game against the #3 SEC team at the time. But lets be honest here we can debate this till the cows come home so really its left in football history.

LOL yeah whatever works :)

I would like to point out though that the VT OFFENSE did not score more points against the Defense than any other team that season.
The offense managed 17 points, Behind the vaunted kentucky offense that put up 20, and Auburn that put up 21. And of course Texas put up 21 as well.

The Bluegrass Miracle

Like I mentioned before, if BSU and TCU want to be taken seriously, move to a Qualified conference, now is the PERFECT time to pursue such a thing, but instead they go to a conference that is losing all it's Big schools that are going to OTHER conferences.

The thing that burns me the most about BSU is the fact that they have to cry to get attention all the time...
"We can't get anyone to play us .... waaaaah"
Well if they would QUIT asking for beny's like they are God's gift, they would have these problems.

We want you to come here TWICE and PAY us X amount of money, thats BS, if they want to pretend to be a big boy, no more huge pay outs just to play them. They act like the want to be a Big Time school, but then act like they are a MAC school that plays the big boys for money.

Actually, I think the MAC has better teams overall than the teams in the WAC and MWC. The latter two are more on an overall level of the Sunbelt in terms of overall quality of team play and competition.

When a team, even a BE team, plays BcS teams week after week, then they deserve respect, and when they don't, they don't. Playing one or two a year doesn't cut it.

The Bluegrass Miracle

Ugh! What a debacle!
I was living in Wisconsin at the time and watched that one with my son, who was in 5th grade. I think Kentucky had just kicked a fieldgoal before that and my son went down to the basement to drown his sorrows in video games. I yelled and jumped so high that it scared him half to death. He came out of the basement almost in tears.:D

UK had sweet revenge a few years later though, knocking LSU off it's #1 perch in 3OTs (which I had the displeasure of attending, front row center with the UK season ticket holders).

You're the one that keeps bringing it up.;) I'm fine with leaving this in football history...a win is win. :)

My "Games of the Week"

Of course #1 is Florida vs S. Carolina.. Winner of this game goes to Atlanta for the SEC Title game... Something I didnt think FLA would be able to do this year the way they played. Only problem is if the Eastern SEC team wins the SEC title game, that could really destroy the SECs hopes of another title game. Of course it could also mean a non-conference champion SEC team (LSU) could possibly sneak into the game, or even the SEC runner up Auburn?

The next games in no particular order.

Ohio St V Penn State. This is must win for OSU if they wish to win the Big Ten, and have a shot at the national title (Even though right now its an outside shot) Penn St, as improved since the start of the season so this could be a tough one for the buckeyes. Good news for OSU is its at the Shoe.

Thats pretty much it, I mean you can watch Alabama play Miss St, see if Bama is rattled from there 2nd loss and loses another which seems to happen to teams, and you have TCU playing the Mighty Sandigo St, which could really show TCUs worthiness of being in the title game, and Boise plays the mighty Idaho to show why they deserve a shot....

In all fairness we do play FCS Appalachian St. next week, and LSU is playing UL Monroe this week and Auburn just got done beating up on UT Chattanooga.

In all fairness, the Mighty TCU Played 2 ranked teams this year. Only one of those 2 are still ranked. Boise as played 2 ranked teams (21 and 20 currently)

All teams schedule their patsies...some more than others. :)

In the end both TCU and Boise will have the opportunity to prove their metal. I see one in the MNC against Oregon, and the other against one of the big boys in a BCS bowl. Those games will tell us everything we want to know, and also mean a lot on how future polls will look. Lot of football left to play. :up

Just about any VT fan is hoping for a BSU vs VT rematch in the Orange Bowl but not sure if that will happen as I honestly see BSU getting skipped on a BCS bowl if current top 5 is the way it is.

7:15 PM Mississippi State-Alabama ESPN 2

One game will not prove anything, they will have 4 weeks to prepare , they should be able to come up with something.

Play a real schedule week in and week out and then well talk about just how good they really are.
