2010 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament Thread

Syracuse already played Cornell and destroyed them...and yes, Cornell is better NOW than they were when Syracuse beat them...but so is the 'Cuse.

NCAA basketball is a March sport. If you go back to the regular season and state 'who beat who' you can come up with anybody winning the championship.

What matters is how you play over this six game stretch. Period.

Anyway, Syracuse is a one seed...they are SUPPOSED to get to the final four. Anything else would be a huge disappointment.

I heard somewhere that Jim Boeheim tricked the selection committee into giving the Orange a better bracket than they deserved. After Arinze Onuaku got hurt (and if you saw the injury you'd know it was bad) Boeheim acted like it nothing so the selection committee kept Syracuse as a 1 seed, and gave them a much easier bracket than say Kansas got. Now we can see that Onuaku is nowhere close to being able to play, but Syracuse never got penalized.

I want to give credit to Roy Williams and Jim Calhoun for treating the NIT with class and dignity. They easily could have taken a different approach, but both brought their teams into the tournament to win it, and never cast any aspersions on it whatsoever.

It would be very easy for these schools to look down on the NIT, as Carolina will be back in the top five next year and perhaps UConn too, but they did not.

New respect. :up

I only hope that we will be back in the top 5 next year. We should be better, but this season showed you should not take anything for granted. I'm a little surprised that Carolina is still alive in the NIT, but we're not really much improved. If you ever watch NIT games you'll quickly see why each team is there and not in the NCAA Tournament. I think Carolina is taking advantage of the low fat diet provided by the NIT. I've never seena a less disciplined team than Miss St. And all you need to know about UAB is that they're coached by Indiana reject Mike Davis. Enough said!

I'm pretty agnostic to the whole thing since winning the NIT means nothing other than you're the 66th best team. Hooray!
