2010-2011 College Bowl Season

Note: MSU couldn't score against Alabama until Saban had pulled the starters (early in the 2nd half.) If he had kept the starters in, score would have most likely ended up 100+ to 0 instead of only a 49-7 beat-down.

True, it could have been much worse. Our fourth string RB was the teams leading rusher and had 2 TDs. On the last one, they showed Saban on the side line and he had a "not again" look on his face, but there was nothing the kid could do. He ran straight up the middle and no one tackled him.

TCU looked a lot better to me than I was expecting. Their arrival in the BE and some of the new coaches in the BE should bring that conference back to life.

Doubtful....
I look for TCU to move into the BE and win it consistently, this was basically TCU moving in so they had a automatic Bid to the Big dance, lets hope TCU keeps up the quality they have shown the last few years.
Boise State should have jumped into a AQ conference as well, but they didn't, thier problem now, they had every chance to do so with all the shake up with conferences going on..

4th string RB, or the new freshman or so. that has shown improvement this year and will be playing mostly next year ?

I suppose technically you could say the Ball kid from Wicsonsin is thier 4th string guy to as he's a freshman, but he'll start over the others next year.

I don't like the idea of losing one of VT's star RB's/Kick returner for the 1st Q of the Orange bowl but rules are rules, at least he and Exum didn't sell jerseys and still get to play the whole Bowl game.

Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said six players who aren't on the two-deep roster will take a bus back to Blacksburg, Va., because they violated team rules. Beamer would not say who the players were or what they did wrong, but they will miss Monday's Discover Orange Bowl against Stanford.
"Nothing's a real serious issue," Beamer said. "They weren't doing what they were supposed to be doing."
The news comes one day after running back David Wilson and safety Antone Exum were told they would miss the first quarter of the game against Stanford because they missed the team's 1 a.m. curfew on New Year's Eve.

Eddie Lacy is our fourth stringer, he is a redshirt freshman and has a ton of talent, but he wont start next season even if Ingram leaves as Richardson will be back. Main problem I have seen with him (Lacy) this year is he has a problem holding onto the ball, but he sure didnt show that yesterday. 5 rushes for 85 yards, 2 TDs.

McCarron (our backup QB) is also a redshirt freshman and looked mighty sharp yesterday as well (perfect 6 for 6, for 51 yards, we had stopped throwing the ball at that point).

People love to speculate on next season, but we have a good shot at a undefeated season depending on who comes back (and maybe even if they leave). Jones, Ingram, and Hightower could be back. After the season Ingram has had, he needs to come back. He didnt help his draft status this year. Granted he was injured and missed some games, but even when he came back he never seemed really himself (although he did good yesterday).
Our big losses as far as seniors go will be GMac and Dial on the offense and Marcell Darius on the D side. We are a young team otherwise.

So today is January 2nd and we STILL have SEVEN more bowl games yet?????

Seriously. God it use to be nice on Jan 1 you knew who was the champion. Sadly that is no longer the case

All the naysayers about UConn playing in the Fiesta Bowl should now season their words and start to prepare them however they like to eat them. UConn provided a worthy game against OK and compared to teams that were highly rated and beat like a cheap drum, they put on a heck of an exhibition. After seeing the stomping that UConn took from Louisville earlier in the season, I had my doubts, but this turned out to be one of the better games of the day.

BTW, the stands looked full for the game, so just where would have the tickets that UConn & OK were supposed to have sold have gotten seats, in the parking lot? Apparently neither school sold the tickets that they were given to sell, but the stands were full....... new math? The BCS now has invented their own accounting and counting systems?

You consider a 48-20 a close game ?

48-20 was not representative of how that game was played. We lost to a superior team (especially Jones, man, what a QB!), but we played hard. Especially with Edsall gone now (to the #$@#%@#$%@#%@#$%ing TWERPS), you can't be unhappy about what happened, as a UConn supporter.

Yeah Uconn played good... but your going to get flack on any forum if your a fan of your team losing.. people love to troll i guess. I'll expect the same trash talk if Vt loses tonight against Stanford but win or lose I'm sure they will play a hell of a game against a hell of a good team.

Yeah, I dont see how a 28 point loss is close in anyones mind.
Now congrats on Uconn making a BCS bowl.....and it may have been better than some expected (not sure how), but it wasnt close. Not even a little bit. At least IMO.

One hell of a lot closer than the beat-downs that MSU & UM were subjected to and will have to say that Oklahoma was as good a team as either of them played. If MSU was the #12 rated team, then UConn should be in at #11 or better. :)

It was a closer beatdown than worse beatdowns. Doesnt make it a close game ;)

There are only 35 "bowls" now, and you do NOT have to have a winning season to play in one. A non-losing season is all it takes, so more money can be generated for the bowls, the NCAA, the schools (to a much smaller degree), and of course, bragging rights.

It will not surprise me for the announcement to be made that there are 27 more bowls being added next season and schools only have to win 2 games in order to play in one of them. In the same press release, we can expect to read that playoffs cannot be done as it would involve playing too many games and lengthen the schedule by too much. hehehe :)

Seriously, saw a blurb the other day that the audiences for the regular season and the "bowls" that had been played up to that time were down compared to previous years. Maybe the saturation point has been reached?

They both lost badly ....
Difference being, MSU should have given Alabama a decent game, UCONN was not expected to be in the game.

Btw, IF TCU continues to play like they have the last few years, UCONN won't have to worry about how well they look in a BCS game getting blown out.

Good game Stanford... pretty sad to be a Hokie fan right now. Need to get rid of that damn Off Cord we have...just sorry play calling.

Always next year I guess.

It was a good first half.. Then Stanford just showed why the ACC is not one of the elites. The second best in the pac10 beat the best of the ACC. The ACC did good in the bowls against the bottom of the other conferences ill give them that but when it came to the big ones they failed.

Beamer is now 1-19 against top 5 teams. No way to spin that one. :D

2 BCS wins for the ACC since 1999.

Even the much-maligned Big East and Big Ten laugh at that!
