2010-11 NBA Basketball Season

You need to focus on West teams, Dallas, Utah, and OKC- especially the Mavs.

I have them taking down your vaunted Lakers this season.

Dallas and Utah simply can't beat the Lakers. OKC is a year or two away still

I was glad to see that Shaq only had two personal fouls. The first thing that goes with Hall of Fame centers is their ability to move sideways, and it forces them to foul. Near the end of their careers, David Robinson and Akeem Olijuan played on defense like their feet were in cement.

I'm pretty sure that the Celtics can still use Rasheed Wallace's contract to circumvent the salary cap to add one more veteran shooting guard to their bench. The problem is what is $6.9 million in cap space worth to any team when a strike is looming?

Celts project to 82-0
Heat project to 0-82

Could be a long season in Miami

I will take that bet....;)

The NBA is back- and I couldn't be more excited!

Pro basketball is a beautiful game, one that is appreciated by many of us here on SatGuys.

It is a game in which I feel there are two types of fans- real fans and casual fans.

Real fans are those that have an interest in their team, as well as other teams- the type of fan that would stay up till around midnight to watch a Warriors/Grizzlies double overtime game.

Casual fans are those that don't have true interest in their team, and only watch if a marquee team or player is on the tube. (The kind that couldn't name any of the Sacramento Kings starting five, but will glued to the TV when LeBron or Kobe is playing.)

We here on SatelliteGuys love this game- one that is underway and will go on till June, meaning we have about six months of slam dunks, whether they come from a 60 win team or a 60 loss team.

Lastly, I will give my 5 bold predictions for this season:

1. The Cavaliers, a team some are writing off after the departure of He Who Shall Be Hated From Here On Out, will finish with a winning record. Whether it's because I like HDMM a lot or because that division is no murderers row, I think they'll surprise a lot of people. I think they'll do no worse than third in that division.

2. The Knicks will make the playoffs for the first time in eight years, giving Sandra reason to celebrate.

3. The Suns will struggle to make the playoffs without Amare Stoudemire.

4. The Memphis Grizzlies will make the playoffs.

5. Finally, my boldest one of all- the Mavericks will be the best team in the Western Conference this season.

Enjoy the game, hoops lovers- it is here and it is here to stay over the long winter and spring.

When the Heat hit there shots they will be dangerous, but as seen last night when things are not falling and no inside post scoring, that when they may have some trouble

Nice post! I'm also excited to get back to some basketball...I just wish my Cavs were in better shape. I don't share your optimism. The Cavs are going to be cellar-dwellers and the team will be blown up around the trade deadline.

Lakers over Magic in the Finals.

Yeah, you may not be a role model, Lebron, but you made damn sure the entire sports world was focused directly on you and THE DECISION for one week in July.

Sandra

Jim Rome had a good take on LeBoob's new commercial...

You’ve probably seen LeBron James’ new, ‘What should I do?” Nike spot. You probably liked it and bought it. I don’t.

And to answer the question, what should you do; you should have just apologized for the decision and for jamming Cleveland as hard as you did. It would have saved you a ton of abuse and Nike a lot of time and money producing and running this spot. Then again, in order to apologize, usually, you have to be sorry, and you’re not.

In the town of "brujeria"(latin witchcraft), "santeria"(sort of like heavy worshiping of "saints") and Carribean woodoo(from Haiti, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Virgin Islands)....and all they got is one measly witch doctor from some little hick town in Ohio??!! Please......LOL!

Woah, wait a minute. Now you're insulting my city? Cleveland isn't a "hick town"! You and LeBoob deserve eachother.

Well.....Things are different because back then, as in Cleveland...if you did a "reasonable" job on Lebron...you had a better than 50-50 chance of stopping anyone else on the Cavs. Face it, it was ALL about Lebron. The ENTIRE offense was based on him. Not in Miami. THE "x-factor" for the HEAT and the entire league will be..."ok, we relatively slowed down Lebron and Bosh with our main 2 guys....ok...who will cover Wade...."

Boston's advantage is height. But most of their height is older...slower. CAN experience OUTPLAY age....?

Man this season is gonna be fun.....:D:up

You sure about that big boy? It looked completely one sided yesterday!

Let’s see: LeBron 31, teammates 13, 8, 8, 6. I’ve seen this movie before, lol!

I had a feeling the Stanky Leg Offense wasn’t Mike Brown’s fault. It was all LeBron!

The Miami offense didn’t look any different than last year in CLE. Lots of pick-and-roll, waiting for LeBron to do something.

Miami's interior D is a joke. Don't say we didn't warn ya, Heat fans. How would you even dream of stopping Pau and Bynum?

Agreed. Miami has issues on the interior. Big issues. And the long necked Bosh is NOT a post up player. At all. Guess it only took one game to shine a big bright light on a glaring hole in the self titled "Big 3".

"Big Dud" is more like it! LOL!!!

Look, I don't have any illusions of grandeure about this season, but I am interested to see the new Princeton style offense that new coach, Byron Scott has instilled.
