2010-11 NBA Basketball Season

Bill thinks the Southeast will be the NBA's most competitive division.

What do you consider to be the least competitive NBA division this year?

Again, at the risk of sounding like a homer, it's gotta be the Atlantic.

Celtics should win that division by a minimum of 15 games.

I think the MVP will ultimately be LeBron, Kobe or Durant, but I'm saying it now: Rajon Rondo is a serious darkhorse!

Celts 38, Heat 20 with 3:41 remaining.

Call it off! Mercy Rule!!:D

Considering that they have missed a TON of wide open shots...not hands in the face...but wide open shots. They cannot play any worse. They are only shooting 26% or so...and down only 15. NOT having Mike Miller will hurt....but, it will take a little time to get it rolling. Not worried in the least....

No risk. You're right, homer opinion or no homer opinion.

The Knicks look like the only other team in that division that can stand upright this year (76ers and Nets have a long way to go, and the Raptors- ye gods...)

Central has two good teams in Chicago and Milwaukee, a mystery team in Cleveland, and two teams in Detroit and Indiana that have nowhere to go but up after last year.

Southwest has no terrible teams; Mavs, Spurs, Rockets, Grizzlies, Hornets all respectable and somewhat capable.

Northwest is strong other than Minnesota; Portland, Utah, and Oklahoma State seem scary; Denver could be decent.

Pacific Division is the Lakers' roost, and the Suns are the only other team that resembles a threat in recent years (Clippers, Kings, Warriors have some work to do)

All three of the "other" California teams have tremendous upside.

The Clippers have "rookie" Blake Griffin to go along with Baron Davis, Chris Kaman and Eric Gordon. The Kings have good looking rookie DeMarcus Cousins, Tyreke Evans, Jason Thompson and Carl Landry. And the Warriors I like most of all with Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and David Lee.

And most importantly, the Warriors have a cool looking new logo! ;)

I do think those teams are going in the right direction, but I just don't see them all making the playoffs this year.

I see those three teams winning at least 37 games, maybe 40- by 'some work to do,' I mean in contrast to how few games they won a year ago.

I posted this in post #55:

No matter what happened in the first half, a third quarter team is regrouped and adjusted, and its there that collective talent wins out with the game having progressed far enough to nullify the affect of fluke, outlier-type influences. Basically, you own the third, you own the game, and over the years, the best teams rise to the top when it comes to average third-quarter scoring margins.

Two years ago, the best third quarter teams were the Lakers and Celtics, outscoring opponents by 3.1 and 2.4 points, respectively, each team routinely blowing opponents out after halftime. Last year, at +1.7, the best were Orlando and Oklahoma City, with the Lakers again just behind.

Miami won the 3rd quarter 27-18....

But.....you gotta make your wide open shots.....that always helps....;)

Celtics getting some big time minutes off the bench from Big Baby Davis, Marquis Daniels, Jermaine O'Neal and Nate Robinson!

When they get Delonte West back in a couple of weeks, and Kendrick Perkins in a few months, this will be IMO, the strongest Celtics bench in years!

After their bad offensive performance early, I was impressed by how Miami clawed back in the second half.

But that slow start put them in a hole too deep to dig all the way out of- as Emmitt Smith once said, "it's like spotting Carl Lewis 20 yards in the 100-yard dash."

Yep....Not worried at all. Today's loss had alot to do with not making open shots...and a very good Celtics team making theirs. Can't win if you can't put the ball in the bucket. To comeback like they did on the road showed some 'moxy'. BUT, to the Celtics credit, they withstood a few runs by the HEAT and 'bent but didn't break'.

Good game....

Bill, how would you grade Game 1 for 'Big Shamrock' Shaq?
You mean the Green Monstah? ;)

He played very well, but I was even more impressed with Marquis Daniels.

Daniels is huge for the C's this year (after an injury riddled year last season) with the departure of Tony Allen.

Best bench in the NBA, by far.

Miami's interior D is a joke. Don't say we didn't warn ya, Heat fans. How would you even dream of stopping Pau and Bynum?

Strange but true fact- this is the fourth straight year LeBron was on the losing end of an opening night game (including the last 3 against Boston).

I'll bet he wants to start against someone other than the C's next season. It's not easy playing against the green for him.

You need to focus on West teams, Dallas, Utah, and OKC- especially the Mavs.

I have them taking down your vaunted Lakers this season.
