2010-11 NBA Basketball Season

Did you guys see that obnoxious LeBron Nike commercial during half-time. It was a minute long; all about "what will I be?" A hero? A Villain? Blah, blah, blah.... arrogance beyond arrogance. Sure was fun to see the three stooges get beat.

What are the odds of Erik Spoelstra NOT coaching at the end of this season?

Word of caution Miami. LeBron is a coach killer. When his team isn't winning, it's NEVER his fault, it's always someone else.

Wednesday's Nationally Televised Schedule

Chicago at Oklahoma City- 8:00pm ET (ESPN/ESPN-HD)
Portland at LA Clippers- 10:30pm ET (ESPN/ESPN-HD)

Maimi's atrocious debut

"atrocious" being the key word as used by head coach Erik Spoelstra...

He wouldn't be wrong in that description, at least to start the game. Miami scored just nine points in the first quarter, and 30 overall in the first half, fewer points than they scored in any quarter or half during all of 2009-10. And that team was filled with spare parts and expiring contracts.

Hang in there Joe Tait!

Everyone’s favorite sweater-wearing Cavs announcer has had a rough couple of weeks medically. After going to the hospital in Houston with pneumonia, doctors discovered problems with Joe Tait’s heart. Tait is expected to miss the bulk of this basketball season – his 39th – which was also supposed to be his retirement tour.

The team reported yesterday that Tait underwent catheterization, which is a partially diagnostic procedure. Depending on how this surgery goes, doctors determine what else needs to be done. In Joe Tait’s case, the diagnosis is a double bypass and aortic valve replacement scheduled for next week.

There is good and bad news in all this. First of all, it is good that Tait ended up in that hospital in Houston so they found out all his ailments. On the other side though, it isn’t exactly providing Tait and all his fans around the area a chance to say goodbye to the legendary voice of the Cavaliers on his and their own terms. I know I for one was looking forward to another year of “Wham with the right hand!” and DiGiorno Pizza plugs.

As of right now, you have to be skeptical that he steps back behind the mic anytime this season, but I am hopeful he can make it back for some sort of “last hurrah.” I wrote about how there could never be another Nev Chandler in relation to the Browns a few weeks ago. Make no mistake Joe Tait does have some detractors out there. I am not one of them, though. I am guessing that after a few years, no matter how good Joe Tait’s replacement, I will be saying the same thing about Tait that I said about Nev Chandler.

Thoughts and prayers to one of the best announcers in Cleveland Sports history... :(

1. A year ago I mentioned how good Marquis Daniels looked against the Cavs on opening night, then he became irrelevant. Not going to fall into that same trap again (but he did look good).

2. As they went to break after the first period, I was wondering if Spoelstra would survive the commercials and still be there in the second. You know Pat Riley wants to get his mitts on this team.

3. Miami is a serious donut team. They are going to challenged against teams with bigs.

4. I did not realize how much Miami would rely on the outside shot. Live by the outside shot, die by the outside shot. There will be games where they just don't fall.

5. The Celtics get weird sometimes on offense. There was a stretch where they were up 12 or so and Garnett took an ill-advised contested two from the corner, Rondo missed on a wild layup, and Garnett missed two foul shots. Miami instantly back in the game. It happened in the playoffs sometimes last year, too.

6. Good to see Yao back on the court.

7. Barnes and Artest covering James and Wade. Interesting!

8. Good news...while Phoenix/Portland was not in HD last night, it wasn't in the same Fuzzyvision as games on the Blazer Television Network were last year..

9. What a shame, Greg Oden still not playing...

10. I wonder what lengths the Wizards are going to in order to not let Gilbert Arenas infect John Wall. Wall is probably already better, and Arenas is still up to his old drama.

11. REALLY looking forward to watching Blake Griffin finally play tonight. Word is he has been a beast during the preseason. Looking forward to seeing Oklahoma City, too.

12. Charles Barkley was asked how he was able to lose 40 pounds and counting...'if it tastes good, I spit it out'. LMAO!!!

13. Wow lots of games tonight! Hockey too. I guess this Sunday will be the first time in a long time that all four sports play the same day?

14. TNT is an 8, ESPN is a 2.

15. The Celtics and Miami could both easily finish north of 65 wins. There are so many bad teams in the east, and I have a feeling the Knicks will be one of them.

When the Heat hit there shots they will be dangerous, but as seen last night when things are not falling and no inside post scoring, that when they may have some trouble

Just wait till Wade gets his legs back. He had only 4 minutes of preseason. The Miami STARTING team played all of 3 minutes this preseason.....I am not worried.

He's definitely an enigma. His problem throughout his career is durability. dude can't seem to stay on the court

There was a stretch where they were up 12 or so and Garnett took an ill-advised contested two from the corner, Rondo missed on a wild layup, and Garnett missed two foul shots. Miami instantly back in the game. It happened in the playoffs sometimes last year, too. They had issues closing out games last season........just like their friends to the Southwest- the Patriots

14. TNT is an 8, ESPN is a 2. TNT is a 9.5 to ESPN's 0.5

15. The Celtics and Miami could both easily finish north of 65 wins. There are so many bad teams in the east, and I have a feeling the Knicks will be one of them. I agree with Miami, but not the Celtics. The C's will coast to approx 55 wins, and coast into the playoffs.

Agreed. Miami has issues on the interior. Big issues. And the long necked Bosh is NOT a post up player. At all. Guess it only took one game to shine a big bright light on a glaring hole in the self titled "Big 3".

"Big Dud" is more like it! LOL!!!

LMAO!! OK....after ONE GAME....the 1st game that ALL three played together...the 1st game that Wade played more than 3 minutes....?? And against one of the best team in the league....?

Oh boy, YOU are gonna be fun to be deal with your knee jerk reactions....LMAO!!!

To be fair, you have to give Miami more time to work this out. What they will be later in the year will probably be totally different than what they are now.

I know Wade missed most of the pre-season, but did he make it to any practices at all, or did he hit the court last night for the first time in weeks? It seemed like the three of them had no clue what to do together. Looked like they spent more time working on their smoke and mirrors entrance and their dance routine than on basketball.

Perhaps Lebron was filming commercials when Wade was at practice?

Bosh looked totally lost out there. He has to figure out where/how (if?) he fits in.
