2008 Pennant Races

I am a Brewers fan, and I would think that if Chicago had a right mind, they would sit all there players tomorrow. They have owned the Brewers most of the season and if the Brewers were to make it to the second round, and the Cubs, imagine the how big that would be of a series, two teams that love to beat up on each other. I don't think milwaukee will make it tommorow, even though they put everything into this, and have had a long enough drought. I just don't think the Cubs want to loose momentum. Hoping CC pitches well on 2 consecative 3 days rest pitching....Just glad it is not on FOX...Brewers always look like crap on FOX.

Good luck tomorrow. :up

Like I was saying to Mets fans earlier, I selfishly hope you guys have a one game playoff on Monday night. Again, best of luck. :)

I dunno - I think everything is up in the air tomorrow and it can go either way. Oliver Perez is either going to be really good or really bad and if he walks anyone on a 3-1 count after the 5th, my heart is going to drop with each batter and they may have to consider taking him out fast. Like someone said - he's fricken Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in a Mets uniform. Whatever the outcome - all I gotta say is what a helluva final week.

Please, please, please - I hope Heilman, Schoenweiss, and/or Feliciano do NOT end up having to pitch any innings tomorrow. And if this goes to Monday with Pedro.... sigh - I might not be able to watch the game! He's going to have to somehow summon old Pedro back. ;)

I wholeheartedly agree. You talk about summoning the old Pedro. Perez has to summon NLCS Game 7 Perez from 06. He has to be on his game. Now, if he struggles my only confidence is that the Mets can hit. I mean the Mets could win 9-8 or 11-9. It wouldn't shock me. It's all about Oliver. If he could get through at least the first couple of innings and let the offense jump on Scott Olsen who isn't very good. I will say also that it seems like Perez thrives in big spots. When he pitches against the Pirates and Nationals, he stinks. When he pitches against the Yankees and Braves, he's terrific.

One more thing, this is Perez' walk year. I don't think he's going to stink later today and expect big money to come his way.

Anyway to Craig, Visitor and all the Mets fans on this forum. Good luck and let's get on!!!

I'll definitely be watching Marlins/Mets on TBS.

Much better than sitting through ANOTHER Packers game on FOX (When I lived in Buffalo, I usually got AFC/NFC East games up until the 1993 season- my family moved on July 13, 1994- the day AFTER the All-Star Game in Pittsburgh), though I'll be flipping between baseball and the Browns/Bengals game; HD and brainfry will probably be hammering each other verbally.

First of all, I want wish all Mets, Brewers, White Sox, and Twins fans good luck today. :)

I have a couple of questions that I would like everyone's opinions on:

1. How will the Mets-Brewers race end?

A. The Brewers win the wildcard today
B. The Mets win the wildcard today
C. The Brewers win a 1 game playoff Monday night
D. The Mets win a 1 game playoff Monday night

2. How will the Twins-White Sox race end?

A. The Twins wrap up the AL Central today
B. The White Sox win Monday's makeup game and win the AL Central
C. The White Sox lose Monday's makeup game and as a result Twins win division
D. The White Sox win a 1 game playoff on Tuesday
E. The Twins win a 1 game playoff on Tuesday

For the record, my answers are:

1. D
2. D

Thanks again everyone for your continued support. I could not sleep last night! I love the drama and excitement, but my heart cannot take this today! I see Oliver Perez looking like Cy Young, giving up 1 run and leaving with a loss in the 7th. Mets, because they want to be dramatic, win it late. Sabathia will run out of gas; they are pushing him too much and Brewers will fall early. By the way, why are we talking about TBS??? Shea's farewell is today, so the Mets are on SNYHD . . . maybe TBS is now picking up the Brewers game and Mets on SNY which is great news for me if that is the case!

As for the latter question Bill, I said it previously, Twins get in today and beat the Rays in the first round . . . my upset pick of the playoffs!

GO METS!!!!!!!!

I will go with D. I think the Mets and Brewers win today, and then Milwaukee runs into a brick wall tomorrow with a depleated pitching core. Would they start Yo? on 3 days rest, I doubt it, but maybe. If they do that is there best chance for 5 innings. Then you have to look at who would replace him. They will have used CC, Sheets, Bush, Mclung, Parra, Soupon, and all others withen the three week-end games. Pitching core will need a rest. I hope they make it, but not looking so promising after yesterdays Sheets Meltdown. Was a fun run though, and maybe another 26 years before they make it in. I am just rooting for small team market that can't pay for 4 or 5 all stars. Tired of seeing only big teams win,
Bill

If it's any consolation (obviously Craig, Mets82, and Visitor can answer this better than me), I think the Mets pitching is just as depleted at this point.

Starting pitching is not really depleted; as usual it is our bullpen. Santana, Perez, Martinez, Pelfry is good to go, healthy and have had rest . . . I am happy with them in a 5 game series with Santana going on the back end of that . . . but again, what do I know . . . if I did, I'd be coaching!

I kind of agree about the starting pitching. Santana was fantastic yesterday. Pelfrey is very good against anybody except the NL East. Pedro isn't vintage Pedro. If we need him HE HAS TO STEP IT UP!!! He has to better than he's been. Perez blows hot and cold. He's either really good or bad. Hopefully he'll be good today. He's pitched well against the Marlins.
I'll tell you what, I'm getting so excited. LET'S GO METS!!!! LET'S GO METS!!!

For you, Bill, I think it's going to be: 1) B (I think they're pitching Sabathia too much)
2) B (The White Sox will win it. The White Sox has guts and Ozzie will motivate his team even though I can't stand him)

Bill, how come there pitching Dice K against the Yankees? I say save him for the postseason. You got nothing to play for.

Mets,

I don't see Dice-K pitching any more than 3/4 innings. He won't pitch again until next Sunday (game 3 vs. Angels), and they don't want him to get too rusty.

Indians-White Sox tied at 1 bottom of the 2nd, but the Sox have the bases loaded and 1 out.

Royals-Twins scoreless in the bottom of the 2nd.
