Kind of weird with no crowd but there certainly was a lot of action although I would have preferred a green flag to the end. What spoiled it for me was the never ending nonsensical chatter. I mean not one single minute out of nearly 3.5 hours without someone yakking about nonsense. One putz kept talking essentially about how the strategy of such and such a team was going to win the race, during the first 20 laps of the race! Give me a break! I don't care where he was born, or that his family traveled to see the race, or how disappointed he was last year, or how great a Formula 1 driver he was. I wouldn't care if his cat had kittens or his parrot flew away. It has nothing to do with the race! Where's Chris Economaki when you need him? Maybe these yokels should watch and/or listen to some of his broadcasts to see how a professional acts.

No way they could have fixed the tire crash barrier in time. That'd have taken an hour.

If all you want is driving without drivers, I suppose you could do the esport thing. But humanizing the drivers is certainly not a bad thing.

Economaki ever call an Indy 500 race? And certainly he never called a full live broadcast event. Maybe they should watch the race first and then over-exaggerate things as if they are watching it live in the night broadcast, like they did in the late 70s?

I forget the year, but some no one interviewer asked Andretti, after crashing out if the high speeds were an issue... and Andretti looked befuddled at the interviewer trying to make it seem more dangerous out there. As an FYI, that interviewer is a co-owner of the winning car this year. You listen to Sam Posey in some of those broadcasts and you can hear him putting pins into voodoo dolls trying to cause accidents.

You don't think origins mattered for drivers like Ongais or Guerrero or Fittapaldi or Fabi back in the 80s. Mark Donahue's unusual Ivy League history? It is like people remember a history that never existed.

Jebus. People want to complain about everything. The disappointing this about Indy was it couldn't finish under green, but that is how racing works sometimes.
