Both the Blue Jays and Indians have been officially eliminated from postseason consideration.

Last time I counted games and days, it seemed to me that Tampa Bay would be playing its 161st game on the last day of the season. If that count is correct, and if they end the season within half a game of the Red Sox, then they'd have t make that game up. Does anyone know who that missing game is against.

The Rays are playing a doubleheader against the Orioles this week, when I'm not sure.

What are the chances we get another one-game playoff?

I think the two best chances for this is Twins-White Sox or Brewers-Mets.

If the Twins-White Sox require a playoff it wouldn't be until next Tuesday, because the White Sox would have to makeup a game with the Tigers on Monday.

So... who will go down in history as the guy who hit Yankee Stadium's last homer.

I'm sure Sandra's watching this with a smile on her face and a tear in her eye.

Red Sox win tonight clinches a playoff berth, which in turn will eliminate the Yankees from postseason play for the first time since 1993.

And they've finally closed the damn joint!:p

All in all, it was a nice ceremony. I will admit that I did shed a few tears when Yogi walked out to the dish all by himself and the crowd went nuts.

Same here! :up I was getting all choked up.

I'll admit I'm a sucker for sentimentality.

With their loss this afternoon the Marlins were eliminated form the NL East race. They do, however, have a faint pulse left for the wildcard. The Marlins elimination number for the wildcard is down to 2.
