2008 MLB Playoffs

They were talking on local radio here this afternoon, that the Angels are more than likely going to offer Teixera arbitration. They went on to say what a threat the Halos are going to be next year. I definitely concur.

Bill, somehow, I don't see Tex settling here. Something in my bones just feels it. I'd like him to stay, but we shall see. KRod is a sure bet to be in another team's uni in March. Arte Moreno says he has deep pockets but wants to evaluate each position and contract with their early '08 demise.

I haven't really given much thought yet to '09, but it's nice to hear that there is buzz going around already that the Angels will be a force to be reckoned with next year.

And back atcha on the compliment!:D

Overall yes.

But unless the Red Sox come back yet again to force a game seven, and/or the World Series goes a compelling six or seven games.......no series this year matched Indians-Red Sox last year.

Bill, I have to disagree with you. While the Red Sox/Angels series has been the best so far, the others not so much. The Rays/White Sox series was hard to get into and the Dodgers/Cubs series which should've been a great 5 game series was too anti climatic and the Cubs didn't even show up. The Phillies/Brewers was ok but nothing dramatic.

Overall, I think the playoffs have been ok although they should've been a little better.

Bill, best of luck tonight. I'm sure you must be sweating bullets. I kind of had that same feeling in 06 when the Mets had John Maine and Oilver Perez in game 6 and 7 of the NLCS.

As far as Manny, I've heard people speculate about him going to the Mets. I hope not because we need a tough as nails veteran in the clubhouse, not some pain in the ass who cares about himself. He's getting older, let him stay in L.A. and let him bask in his own glory.
Bill, how about the other night during the beanball incident where Manny had to be "restrained". I think he had to be restrained from getting his ass kicked!!!

If I may answer for Bill here...Manny ME admitted to the L.A. press that his being "restrained" was pure Hollywood. He waited till whoever it was that pushed him back was in his range and it was an impromptu set up to "look good". I swear that is what this nutcase said!!!!

You know, I'm glad you brought this up.

My Ramirez bashing has been well documented on here, and at the risk of "piling on" I didn't want to make a post about Me-Me being "restrained ".

However, thanks to Sandra, yourself and not to mention several friends and associates, I saw what I thought I saw.

Thank you for that! :) :up

OMG, are you serious??????????

How would you like to be a Mets fan while the Yankees either won the World Series or made the playoffs? The fact that the Mets have choked the past 2 yrs. hasn't helped either.

I would not like to be in your place at all...not in that city with all of that pressure and hype. Maybe two new parks will somehow (here I go again) "level the playing field" and the Mets vs. Yankess rivalry can start off with a breath of fresh air.

KCK,
if K-Rod does indeed sign elsewhere, who are the Halos looking at to step into the closers role?

Jose Arredondo, perhaps? Dude has GREAT stuff!

I don't know about K-Rod. I've heard he might not be on everyone's shopping list because I've heard that his velocity is down. That could mean that they've used him so much, if the Mets sign him, it wouldn't be vintage K-Rod.

From what I've heard, the Mets are the favorites for his services.

Do the Bruins play the Ducks this year, guys? You really went back-and-forth with the Sox and Halos in entertaining and well-spoken fashion.

Do you like TBS covering the MLB playoffs, or do you miss ESPN/FOX?

Personally, I like the TBS pre and post game. However, with Joe & Jon calling the ALCS on ESPN radio, I have listened to them as I watch the games. I will do the same thing during the WS as I cannot take the FOX booth pairing!!!

And yes, I do miss ESPN's postseason coverage in some ways.

LOS ANGELES -- Manny Ramirez cleaned out his locker at Dodger Stadium Thursday afternoon possibly for the last time, leaving behind a fortune cookie on the nameplate above his locker reading, "Don't look back, Always look ahead."

Then Ramirez headed toward the elevator with a throng of media chasing after him and did just that.

The impending free agent stood at the elevator waiting to leave with a smile on his face, refusing to answer any questions except to say, "I'll send you guys a Christmas card," to a circus of reporters hanging on his every word. Whether that was his farewell to the Los Angeles media corps he has treated so well since being acquired by the Dodgers on July 31 remains to be seen, but clearly Ramirez has already entered free agent mode one day into the offseason.

KCK is obviously worried about possibly losing Teixeria or K-Rod, but who does he think the Halos should try and sign in free agency? We all know how good the Vlad Guerrero signing turned out.

Sabres,

I'm am not worried about losing KRod...he is a gonner...period. Tex would be nice, but if they don't sign him, so be it.

Despite what many are saying about the Angels being a force next season, I personally think they will promote from within their lush and lavish farm system and let the chips fall where they may from there. I do not see Arte going out for any "names" other than maybe a starting pitcher since Garland will most likely be gone, too.

Honestly, I really can't even think about '09 yet.

TBS is ok and I think you have to get used to the coverage. ESPN was good with their coverage because at least you know who was doing what games. TBS' announce crews are guys that usually are not paired up during the regular season which I can't understand why they do that.

Who's the biggest NFL disappointment so far this season?

Best World Series of all-time?
