2008 MLB Playoffs

btw, what is Manny up to in the series, I have not been able to really see either game.

Jimbo

Man-Ram has gone 4-8 with 3 RBI, 2 HR and 4 runs through 2 games. He is the best hitter in the game right now.

BTW, I find it comical that 3 ex-Indians single handily willed their teams into the playoffs. Without their contributions, I'm not sure all of these teams make the playoffs...

1) Manny Ramirez- Since being traded to the Dodgers from the Red Sox, he has brought the Dodgers from 2 games under .500 and 2nd in the NL West to 6 games above .500 and winning the NL West.

2) Jim Thome- Hit a solo home run and only run scored as the White Sox beat the Twins in a 1 game playoff to decide the winner of the AL Central.

3) C.C. Sabathia- Since being traded to the Brewers, has gone 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA. In 17 games for the Brewers, Sabathia tossed seven complete games.

A 4th (kinda a stretch), would be ex-Indian Manager, Charlie Manual of the Phillies.

So, out of the 8 teams to make this year's MLB playoffs, 4 of them were ex-Indians who had significant contributions to their current teams successes. Oh, the torture!

So much for the invincible C.C. Sabathia!

His initials should stand for 'Colosally Creamed.'

In defense of the big guy, the 253 innings this season is the largest amount of his career by a dozen. You'll never hear Sabathia admit that fatigue was reason for his performance though.

It should also be noted that Sabathia did not get ANY run support whatsoever either. Through the first 2 games, the Brewers have scored a whopping 3 runs so far. That is not enough for any playoff team to get it done.

Speaking of Manny, He is having a good series and is very valuable, but his two home runs did come after the Dodgers already had a good lead. The man with the grand slam in game one and the player with the three run double played bigger parts in the Dodger victories in the two games. They have had such little publicity I can't even recall their names. Doesn't matter. The Phillies will crush which ever team faces them. By the way Manny is one of my favorites but give credit where credit is due.

I have to disagree with you. The way the Dodgers are playing now they will be very hard to beat unless the wheels come off the cart this weekend. A Dodgers/Phillies NLCS will be a thrill to watch...but neither one will crush the other. ;)

I look at those Cubs fans as they pan the crowd, and I feel so bad.

I don't!!!...:neener

Cub fans are some of the most obnoxious fans in baseball, ranking right up there with Mets and Philly fans!!!...

(And don't get me started about NE Patriot fans...that's a story for another thread!!!...)

boomer,

we all know you're a Reds fan.

Who do you like in the other major sports?

I am a homer, to be sure, but try not to take it to extremes like some other people on here....;)

I have been a season ticket holder with the Colts since they came to town!!!...:bow

I also root for IU in basketball and football, (although there hasn't been much to root for in FB)

And as hard as they have made it to be in the last couple of years, I still follow the Pacers!!!... It's just not the same since Reggie Miller retired!!!...:(

(and save your fingers....my avatar is the logo of the TV station I work for here in Indianapolis!!!...)

Hello Halo. I was just trying to convince myself. Sixty years of watching the Phillies lose consistently have made me a little crazy. Have some fond feelings for Dodgers. Was a neighbor of Tom Lasorda in his Norristown, PA days. I am sure he doesn't remember me from the gas station near his home but I knew his family as customers. Good luck with your Angels.

Oh, hey! I love your Phillies this year. They have been fun to watch and you should be pretty damn excited about them. They WILL make it to the NLCS. It's anyone's guess after that.

I have worked near and/or been around Lasorda on and off for the past 10 years. He has become a miserable old bag of wind. He is an Ambassador to the Game without a doubt. However, he can be a real pain in the ass at times.

All the best to your beloved Chase & Co. in the playoffs!:up

I just love the generalization of some people on here.

I know. You're rude and obnoxious and I'm just a green tea drinking, surfing band wagoneer!!! :wave

Nice to meet you Mr. green tea drinking, surfing band wagoneer! ;)

Seriously, good luck tonight buddy. I smell extra innings tonight.

OY! I don't know if my heart can take extra innings tonight. I just want to send them back to Boston tied.

BTW, your boys will be right at home tonight here. It is chilly, overcast, and a threat of light showers (which may impact the Cubs/Dodgers tomorrow night). Definitely October baseball.

Thanks, Bill and although I wish you the best, I really want to take this thing back to you tied and take this goddamn 20 ton gorilla off of our backs!!!!

take this goddamn 20 ton gorilla off of our backs

You still have that gorilla over my A's.

Remember the final weekend of the 2004 season? Vlad seals his MVP award, while the A's did what they do best under Billy Beane: GAG.

Hell, two of your division titles were clinched IN Oakland!

Yes, that has devoloped into quite a rivalry. Too bad it didn't get to that level this season. Remember little Jason Kendall taking on big bad John Lackey???? Or how about Kendal stealing home to win the game after KRod dropped the ball? Great stuff, indeed!:hungry:

KCK,

losing game 1 is no big deal.

In 2002 AND 2005, the Halos lost game 1 TWICE in the Division Series to the Yankees, and I believe they won that series.

In fact, the Angels dropped the opener in EVERY SERIES the year they won the World Series!

Did you panic after those losses?

No I did not. We always felt then that the Angels had the Yankees' number. It is this losing 19 straight games to the Sox in the playoffs that weighs heavily on every Angels fan.

Plus, all that is being driven down our throats out here is the great playing of the Dodgers while the Angels have to sit and wait almost two full days to comeback and play it out. It isn't a panic, Sabres...it's just anxiety and wanting to move forward.

Who's the biggest NFL disappointment so far this season?

Best World Series of all-time?
