X-Box, Playstation, and Wii Game News

Yeah I hope they put the first one out on PC as well as this one..
I wouldn't hold your breath on a re-release at this point, unless the delay in PC version is to allow dual development, but given how much money they're making with online I see them putting resources in making that good as opposed to remastering old games.

Looks like it's official now, with a trailer coming very soon.

Oh FFS Rockstar... No PC version?? Right, because GTA 5 was such a massive bomb on PC. Hopefully it's just because they're doing a delayed release so they get it right the first time.

Yeah, there is no way this isn't coming to PC with how much success GTA 5 is having on that platform. I also hope they are more transparent this time. When GTA 5 came out on PS3/360 they went out of their way to say that it would not be coming to PS4/Xbox One.

I don't believe for a second that they had no plans for the new consoles when GTA 5 came out on PS3/360 just a month or two before the PS4/Xbox One launched. They just said they had no plans so that people would buy the game at launch instead of waiting for a next gen version. This also had the side affect of many people buying the game again on PS4/Xbox One/PC when they had already bought it on a previous generation console.

Even if they say they have no plans for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 when the console versions launch I am going to have a hard time trusting them and buying a copy on console after what they pulled with GTA 5. I just want them to confirm that a PC version is coming and tell us when they expect that to happen before the console version releases. That way people can decide whether the wait is worth it for the PC version with better graphics, performance, and mods or if they should just jump into the PS4/Xbox One version right away. Depending on how long the wait is I might get it on console but I'm not buying the game twice.

Very few pc people buy games on PC, that's why developers like to delay the release of it if they even make one.

Piracy is definitely a major problem on PC. Developers of games like The Witcher 2 have came out and said that their games were pirated 5 times more than they were purchased on PC. I can see why that would make a publisher hesitate to support PC gaming but there are still millions of people who buy games on PC. Steam is massive and many people, including myself have gigantic Steam libraries of games we have purchased. I just checked and I own 474 games on Steam and that isn't counting the ones I own on Battle.net, Origin, GOG, Windows 10 Store, and uPlay. PC gaming is my main platform and I personally have never pirated a game in my life.

I also took a look at the Steam Spy listing for GTA V, Rockstar's previous game. 5,449,108 people own GTA V on Steam and it is still in the top 10 sellers list on Steam almost every month. Keep in mind that this game doesn't even redeem through Steam if you buy it anywhere else because Rockstar has their own code redemption and game launcher service. Anyone who bought a physical copy of the game or bought it from digital retailers besides Steam like Amazon, Humble Store, and Green Man Gaming isn't even included in that 5.5 million Steam player count.

So yes, piracy is a major problem for PC gaming but that doesn't mean it isn't worth it to put your game out on that platform. There are still millions (hundreds of millions in GTA's case) of dollars to be made. I highly doubt that Rockstar is going to give up hundreds of millions of dollars in PC sales just because Red Dead 2 will end up getting pirated at some point.

There is also a newish, very hard to break DRM called Denuvo that has kept pirates from getting their hands on popular games like Arkham Knight and Rise of the Tomb Raider for 7-8 months after release on PC. They are still getting in eventually but most game sales occur in the months before these games are cracked anyways. I would much rather see publishers invest in better DRM like Denuvo to combat the piracy problem than delay the PC release. Delaying it probably isn't going to make PC pirates go out and buy a console and the game.

That's very much a fallacy. Yes piracy is an issue with PC gaming but publishers would not be putting games on PC if they weren't making money.

I wouldn't have noticed. Sadly Doom had to be sacrificed in order to get Gears 4 on my machine. I did get notifications for an Overwatch update though, the second of the day.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer is live. There isn't much detail about the story shown but we do get to see some really nice visuals.

Edit: As people in the youtube comments pointed out several times, there is no mention of Nintendo Switch support. PC gamers aren't alone.

Rather underwhelming. Would have liked to see more in terms of what the actual game is like. Also can't wait for the inevitable "Trailer vs Release" graphics quality videos that will be coming out upon release.

As far as PC goes, Rockstar would be leaving money on the table if they didn't put this out on PC, so it's just a matter of time for that IMO. If I had to bet, the game would probably get a 2nd edition for the Scorpio, and shortly after that the PC version would get released. As consumer-unfriendly as that schedule is, the fact is it worked really well with GTA V and 2K is in the business of making money.

I'd be very surprised if this got an Switch release. I mean Rockstar barely even has a relationship with Nintendo, and they make so much money just supporting the other consoles and PC that investing the time and money and resources to a NX port that will likely not do well, just because no one will be waiting for the NX release and will just get it ASAP on console or wait for the "better" PC version.

Yeah, people who are big fans of Rockstar games aren't likely to have the Nintendo Switch as their only gaming platform since GTA V and Red Dead Redemption didn't come to Nintendo platforms. There were just tons of youtube comments pointing out that it didn't mention Switch since the trailer launched about 45 minutes after Nintendo's trailer.

I'm actually surprised to see Skyrim remastered featured in the Switch trailer since Bethesda probably has zero following on Nintendo platforms too. I guess this is their way of testing the waters.

As for the RDR2 trailer being a bit underwhelming after all the hype about it in the last few days, I think that was probably to be expected. Keep in mind that the game is still an entire year out and that is if there are no delays. They have plenty of time to release more in depth trailers and they want to continue to build hype as the game gets closer to launch, not hit peak hype levels a year before the game is available. When GTA V was being teased all they did was release screen shots every couple weeks and people went crazy for it. I'm actually kind of surprised we even got a trailer this far out.

In the days of huge "Day One Patches" does that really mean anything anymore?
Well yes, it means the game has been finally certified and is ready to be mass produced. Granted, what is on disc versus what people will actually play are two different things, but it's basically a confirmation that yes, this game is coming out.

On the subject of why Day 1 patches are now such a big thing, a developer came out recently and went into why they're so prevalent and why they're necessary. It's actually an interesting read.
