seems a bit harsh to tell some that recommended a PC for some people and a Mac for other folks; some of whom already show interest in one. I could justify that had I said " Buy a Mac, Don't Buy a PC". Diogen, Do you use a PC or a Mac? I would guess a PC because I am even writing this. If so have you ever used a newer Mac? Or are you one of the people I used to be with the mind set that would never use a Mac because it's not a PC therefore it is inferior? The only thing that I see that may have made you post that isStart a thread "Buy a Mac, Don't Buy a PC" and stick it there...
I could see you might think I was Pro Apple and down with PC for saying that but I was looking at it from a purely hardware point of view and stand by it. I have used a ton of brands and find that the 24'' Imac I got has the finest build quality of any of them. Could someone build a PC just as well? Sure they could! Apple does not use anything that the Brand X could not. Do they do it? High end Dell XPS and Alienware come close but still are not there IMO; I own them and have compared them side by side. I am not pushing anything on anyone. I wrote in this thread to tell my Vista experience. It was so bad I was moved to try something new. I never wanted to start a fight about anything but it seems you want to pick one by posting such rude things as "WTF" and telling me to "Stick it".I think Apple has a better made box than Dell or Gateway or brand X.
Where to begin? Vista arrived in stores months late, forced untold thousands of users to upgrade their hardware, made mincemeat of software and drivers that worked perfectly well in XP, ended up lacking many of the bold-faced features we'd been promised, and came saddled with new and annoying set of video DRM schemes. At least Vista now boasts an option for downgrading back to XP. (Now, before you Mac fanboys out there begin gloating, let me remind you that Leopard shipped a full six months late, and that many users are still suffering from sluggish, buggy systems after upgrading.)
Anyways, I see Yahoo! Tech has voted Vista one of the 10 Worst Tech Products of 2007

All good points Ocnier. If Microsoft had made the first PC before Apple did it might be a different world. If Jobs would kick some of his ways it sure would help Apple out. I see Apple computers are now at Best Buy and Circuit City. Just as Dell is now at Wally World. The market has changed so much so fast everyone is trying to keep there heads up. I can remember a day not to long ago when I could build a PC for a customer and turn a buck or two... not anymore. If anyone had the $$$ and power to make THE computer of all computers you would think it would be Bill. But judging from there biggest hardware offering to date the Xbox360 ( I love my 360, only had to send it off one time due to RROD) I can't understand why the do it to themselves?
And I've never seen otherwise...As you see in my second post I use Both a PC and a Mac.
I had a Mac once. The Cube. Never ever - before and after - have I had such a nice looking piece of crap in my house...Diogen, Do you use a PC or a Mac?
Fine by me. Why in this thread? The only thing that I see that may have made you post that is I could see you might think I was Pro Apple and down with PC for saying that but I was looking at it from a purely hardware point of view and stand by it.
Good for you. What does it have to do with Vista experience?I have used a ton of brands and find that the 24'' Imac I got has the finest build quality of any of them.
I took a look at the this link because I recently purchased a new notebook with Vista Ultimate. Just to add a novice perspective to the mix, here are my thoughts (based on the article and a previous interest in purchasing a MacBook Pro)...Anyways, I see Yahoo! I second the recommendation for using nLite. I built a new PC last month and right before I put it together, I put together a Windows XP CD with SP2, all patches to that point, and also all the drivers for my motherboard, including the RAID drivers. Once it rebooted after the install, all I had to do was install the latest ATI drivers for the video card. I see I'll have to go back and put SP3 in there now.... I slipstreamed it with a old copy of xp I had lying around using NLite (if you haven't downloaded this program already then i highly recommend you do so soon). I tried it on fresh install on one of my secondary machines and it worked like a beauty. I think in total it needed updates on the web that were maybe 5 in all. Caveats to SP 3 - still no damn native nvidia raid support (which is total BS on MS's part)...
when you need a quad core just to run the OS adequately its time to move on.I'm sorry to disappoint you, but a Core2 Duo is quite midrange these days. When you install Quad-Core we can start talking about "one of the fastest there is.".
Cheers,
