which dish receiver to buy

looking to purchase a receiver for dish, but do not want to buy one, that dishnetwork will not activate. how far back will they go on receiver. looking for pvr. will they
acitivate all models? just dont want to buy one, and then get stuck with it.

Any VIP or "K" receiver (such as the vip211 or 222k for example) is MPEG 4. I'd stick with the MPEG 4 route as Dish wants to go MPEG 4 only in the next few years.
