As it would appear the Virtual Joey streams a video via internal LAN and control / menu / etc are handled from the Hopper, what are the chances Dish would create a virtual dish extender for the VIP Series with Sling Adapter?
A couple of months ago, someone posted they had heard about a Joey working with a 922. At the time it seemed interesting, but only a rumor; an Urban Legend almost and the thread died. Could it have been a Joey with custom software (virtual joey) and a custom Sling adapter code to allow an RF remote to bring up the menu etc?
I use Dish Anywhere in my house quite a bit and it works alright much of the time, except for the trick play and the sluggish UI.
I believe those shortcomings were what killed the dish extender, along with the drive for the Hopper. I know there are 2 chances, slim and none, but I can dream.
