Video Game Deals

The Prototype Series is on Sale on Steam today, 75% off. Seriously, these are some of the most fun open world games I've ever played. If you liked InFamous, you'll probably love Prototype. The first one, while not quite as good as the sequel, is only $5. For that price, you REALLY can't go wrong. And the sequel is $10.

Here's a pretty good comparison of InFamous and Prototype. NSFW due to language.

Even including Second Son, Prototype > Infamous for me.

The freedom of movement and stealth aspects help overcome the tedium of repetition in these kinds of games imo.

There's a number of "almost good enough to buy" deals on there for me. I'm not jumping on TWD Season 2 or Broken Age until they get to 50%+ off, and am definitely in no hurry to jump before that as neither game is completed yet. And although Arkham Origins is priced quite low, I've decided against playing that and instead just waiting for Arkham Knight. I may not wait until a post-release sale though. If I can get it for $40 as a pre-order (which it has been once already) then I'll be all over that, but probably GMG will be the source of that.

Definitely keep checking for flash deals though. I checked late last night and saw that Octodad was on sale for 50% off. I've been waiting for a while on this game and 50% has been my jumping point and they finally did it. Now if I can get those other games I mentioned I'll be all set. One thing I like is that they have Steam keys but also often have DRM free versions, which I'm starting to enjoy more than Steam keys because I've found Steam seems to have compatibility issues.

Dragon Age is on sale this weekend. I am currently playing this and enjoying it so far. Dragon Age Origins is $4.99 and Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition is $7.49. If you liked KOTOR and Mass Effect I recommend jumping in on The Ultimate Edition.

Rogue Legacy is a nice buy at $3.74 if the idea of a rogue-like that looks like a Super Nintendo game sounds good to you. I haven't played it for a few weeks but I got pretty hooked when I did.

Edit: this is a flash sale from the Humble Store. The quote doesn't make a ton of sense but I was looking at the Saint's Row deal when I saw it.

Here's Yahtzee's review. He may have played the Console version which has different controls but it gives a good idea of the setting and story.

GOG is having another Spring Insomnia sale. A bunch of VERY limited time sales as well as a few free games, although if you can actually snag a free game, you deserve a medal.

Update: This sale isn't that great. They're already repeating sales, and those sales aren't that great. More specifically, the games are VERY obscure. For every Kings Quest and Space Quest bundle sale, there's 2 or 3 smaller/older games that I've never heard of. Might be worth checking in on once in a while but don't feel the need to actively monitor this.
