Video Game Deals

You can get Overwatch for $35 from Gamestop if you trade in a select game AND you are a Power Up rewards member (you can do this for free.)

I may take advantage of this. The list of games you can turn in is surprisingly liberal. There's a TON of Nintendo titles that will give you the discount, and even older titles like The Last of Us Remastered will give you the deal. Hell they allow Major League Baseball 2K13 for the Xbox 360 for this! I'm about done with my copy of WWE 2K16, and if I really want it back I can likely get the PC version for a major discount, which includes ALL the DLC (and was conveniently announced less than 3 days after I bought the One version.)

This is an especially good deal for console players who don't have the option to buy the $40 standard version. Even for PC, getting the Origin's Edition with the character skins and the bonuses for all the other Blizzard games for $5 less than the standard edition is pretty cool.

Also you can combine it with rewards. I have a bunch of points saved up so I can get a $10 reward certificate, so when it's all said and done I'll have the game for less than $30. :-)

There's a Metal Gear Solid franchise sale at Steam this weekend.. which does feel a LITTLE weird considering this only encompasses 3 games, and one of them barely counts as a game. Something like this on PSN though would be VERY cool, as they could go and release all the games in 1 big package. I didn't realize though that MGS V had been permanently reduced to $40. That'll make a 50% discount VERY tempting. I stopped playing it on PS4 after just a few hours but I still do want to give it another shot.

I've played about 4 hours worth of ROM and it is quite good so far. $1 for that and Her Story alone are worth it, and quite frankly Broken Age is also worth the BTA price that's less than $4.

The Steam Link and Steam Controller are both on sale this weekend for $35. I think the Link is a pretty good product, especially at this price. It allowed me to keep my PC at a desk for games that are better in that setting and still allowed me to play other games in the living room with a controller.

It has worked really well for me even though I find myself wanting to play most games on my higher resolution 1440p monitor. I still use it from time to time though and it's cheap enough that I'm happy with my purchase. I haven't had any problems with latency either but I'm running it on a wired network. People using WiFi may have more issues.

You can also get Steam Link for $35 from Amazon, but the controller isn't discounted.

GoG is having their summer sale now. As part of it, if you have GoG Galaxy installed (their free app) you can get a free copy of System Shock 2.

I'll have to remember to grab that when I get home since I use GOG Galaxy anyways. Even though it's not required, it's the easiest way to get patches and DLC.

I also checked GOG Connect and I had 2 more eligible games from my Steam account. I'm up to a total of 14 now. I guess this is something you pretty much need to check weekly if you care about shifting your games to GOG.

After seeing yourbeliefs mention Hard Reset Redux in another post I decided to look it up on Steam since I had never heard of it. I was surprised to see it listed for 85% off ($3) since it just came out last week and it's normally $20. I did some digging and it looks like this is a special price for anyone who owns the original Hard Reset (I don't) or the Shadow Warrior reboot from 2013. I had Shadow Warrior so I qualified for this discount. I believe this offer also applies to people who own Shadow Warrior digitally on Xbox One and PS4. I'm not positive about this but it's worth checking out.

Yeah I was going to bring up the price point of HR:R in my early impressions (which is coming later today.) So far though, things are positive, mostly...and yes it's going to start becoming annoying but Painkiller will be brought up in the review. ;p
