Two and a Half Men

He drives a Benz doesn't he?

I am pretty sure Charlie Harper has both. There was one episode where Alan connives to have their mother buy him a Porsche and Charlie describes that model asa "Chick car' and smaller than his Porsche. Aln's car is stolen by the end of the episode and winds up being destroyed in a high speed chase. So amybe they will use the fiery crash angle!

To me the Porsche seems likelier fora fiery crash but it could work either way.

Same here, to me Spin City didn't skip a beat when Charlie replaced Michael J. Fox...

I don't disagree but the ratings took a big hit. I think the only successful change in lead during midseries was when Andy Griffith left his show and they continued it with the supporting cast plus Ken berry. as Mayberry RFD. other than that you might have to go all the way back to Wagon train.

I wil try this show but i really don't expect much.

Law and Order? The original CSI?

But yes, replacing major cast members is a whole major catagory in Jump The Shark!

You are right there are a few I foirgot. Heck the ratings even went UP when Peter Graves took over the lead in Mission Impossible.

Still I am skeptical that this one can work but hey you never wknow I guess.

The new show may survive, but not if Sheen gets a show up and running this fall. If so, 2.5 = 0

To be honest I don't know if lightning will necessarily strike again for Sheen. Besides it is getting pretty late to really get a show up and running by the fall. I keep hearing rumors that one network or another is about to give hima slot but then I read that this is not the case.

In the end if he gets a show it and 2.5 will succeed or fail based on their own merits it is not a one up means the other has to fail. But TV being what it is they are both likely to fail.

LOS ANGELES - CBS lifted the veil of secrecy on Ashton Kutcher's character on "Two and a Half Men," talking to the Television Critics Association meeting here.

Kutcher plays Walden Schmidt, an internet billionaire with a broken heart and it will be a two-parter over two weeks, according to CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.

Tassler declined to confirm the much rumored idea that Charlie Sheen's character is dead and buried in the season premiere, saying "the mystery is part of the marketing."

Asked what she learned from the debacle of "Two and a Half Men," Tassler replied, "where do I begin?"

She avoided talk of Sheen's very public meltdown, noting on the plus side that "there is great value in hiring an actor like Ashton Kutcher. A professional, talented gifted actor who comes with tremendous commitment and enthusiasm."

The show will be "as irreverent as it has always been, our Program Practices people (ie. censors) are already on high alert."

I just don't think it will work. Ashton was good on the 70's Show, but I'm not of big fan of him in movies. Part of the problem is that with Sheen, his character "Charlie" was so much like him in real life, and that made it all the more believable. Ashton lives a rather "clean" life, and I can't seem him acting like "Charlie". Now, if they just plan to have Ashton develop as a total new character, without being the "Playboy" & "I only care about me" persona that Sheen's "Charlie" had, I don't see what kind of relationship Ashton's character can have with Alan & Jake that would provide the same level of comedy that originally made the show so great. Also, another thing that added to Sheen's character, was that by being Alan's brother and Jake's uncle, it made it all the more entertaining that he didn't give a damn about them most of the time, but why should a stranger (Ashton's character) care at all about Alan & Jake. The only one I see the most potential for comedy wise, would be Bertha, the maid. I can see her and Ashton at odds, but that's only if Ashton can pull of a strong enough character to be believable in sparing with her.

IMO, they should have never let April Bowlby leave the show...She was one of the best woman on there. :D
