Three things you need to know about the phone Amazon is launching this week

ATT only is the least interesting and most disappointing news so far to me. We'll be huddled up at work and watching the reveal from our mothership though, interested in what they're bringing to the table.

Unrelated, I like that all the news isn't shunted into one thread in this subforum.

What will be interesting will be pricing. If they make it a cheap phone (like free with contract) it could attract attention with free data.

Was excited about it until they announced it and all their features.

I like the screen so you can view things even when out in the sun and the dual speakers with Dolby Digital Plus Virtual Surround Sound.

I could care less about the fake 3d, I turned it off on my iPhone when it came out... and now its got 4 cameras trying to figure where my head is all the time... I can only imagine how that effects battery life with those cameras watching you all the time.

The 4.7 inch size was also disappointing as I am now looking forward to a larger phone.

I will try to keep an open mind until actually trying the device, but there is so much to be disappointed about. Smaller screen, with lower resolution (doesnt really matter except for numbers standpoint), locked into one carrier, probably as scott said bad battery life, and where is the value? This phone costs the same as a superior (technically anyway) device that one can get on any network.

I am just not seeing it, and I was excited about the possibilities as well.

When I first heard about it I was thinking something along the lines of the Fire HD tablets. Essentially good quality at a low price. Essentially I saw it as competition for the iPhone 5c. I thought they would aim for under $100 with commitment, maybe even free. Instead it costs as much as the 5s.

The one thing that might attract prime customers is that amazon content does not count towards your monthly data cap. So, for example, if you have prime and take the train to work, you can stream video/music from Amazon without worrying about date usage.

Other than that, meh. I expected a lower price point to attract buyers. I imagined they'd use this as a loss leader in order to promote conversion of impulse to actual purchases on amazon via the visual/audio search functionality.
