Thinking of jumping from dish to Directv

I will say I am excited to see how my tv's look. Like I said before last time I had Directv was many years ago before I had HD tv's and my dish picture isn't great, it has improved alot of the summer but from what alot of people have said it still doesn't live up to Directv. I'm also excited to use the genie mainly because dish has updated their ui and it has made my receivers painfully slow to use so hopefully this will be a step in a better direction of it not taking me almost a minute for the dvr menu to load

Let us know how everything works out. I really liked having ATT, but the savings going to Dish and Hopper 3 is what convinced me to try it out. Who knows what things will look like in 2 years?

Yeah, the whole pushing the ui to every receiver wasn't a great move on Dish. But, it looks like every company does that. I guess that's their not so subtle hint to get people to upgrade.

Will do, my install is Friday. I currently have the hopper with sling and 3 joeys. All of the joeys are different speeds as one is a joey 1 the other a joey 2 and a super joey. While the new ui is nice looking it is slow on the hopper 2 and 1 of the joey's to where they're a pain to use

I received the hr44 the tech had to leave because he didn't bring any minis so what could've been quick will take along time. My signal is great on the sats lowest transponder is 96 with quite a few at 100

Also how long should I take for it to download anything? I'm sure the software isn't up to date either since I've seen people with the genie have the at&t logo on their guide and mine has the old logo

The techs up here, Do d/l the latest software when they set it up.
Looks like he did a good job peaking the dish ... :)

Mine did not, the genie however has rebooted since he left and it appears to have updated some which he said it may do. He also said when it updated it may still not be up to date until tomorrow.

Hes talking about the data building in the guide or the On Demand stuff. That stuff sometimes takes 24-48 hours.

It will continue to struggle. The HR44 is 5 years old
After giving it the night it runs very smooth and everything seems to be ready to go. It doesn't seem to be struggling now and the c61's are working much smoother than my dish joeys did

With all of the deal Directv is offering especially since I already have the at&t unlimited plus plan Directv is looking more and more attractive. With that said what equipment would be best to get? I've had dish for years (had Directv back in the standard def days). Is the on demand selection any better than dish? Is the pq really that much better?
I would do some research before switching to Directv. I have been with them for the last 4 years and have been very happy, until the last few months. I have been having audio dropouts and pixellation (sp?) randomly a few times an hour on all channels. I thought a couple of trees had gotten too tall and had them taken down but it didn't fix the problem. I logged on to this forum and the first posts refer to this problem. It seems to be happening all over the country(I'm in the NW) and ATT knows about it and hasn't been able to fix it.

Welcome brother. The grass is truly greener on the Death Star side
Thanks Claude so far I'm happy with my switch. So far haven't noticed any pixelation or audio drop outs but if they do the clearer picture makes up for it and I'm happy to see some more of the channels we watch be in HD

Make sure you set your boxes to native resolution, and put it on original format.

It will look so much better as Your tv will adjust to what resolution the program your watching, instead of trying to up convert to 1080i and keep the picture in a certain aspect ratio.

It’s one of the only features that Directv has that dish doesn’t.

I watched SD content on my 4x3 Sony Wega Tv for years when it was capable of doing HD when I had dish.

The tech set them all like that when he did the install and explained why when doing so. I appreciated it
