The Cleveland Cavaliers part ways with head coach Mike Brown

yep....:up

Great college coach have NOTHING to gain by leaving something good, stable and a situation where they almost have complete control....than to head to the NBA.

Sounds like the great college coach has at least $15 million to gain by heading to the NBA. Wouldn't call that nothing. ;)

Looks like that's why DF stepped aside, Gilbert wants to get more involved....
Yep. I was hoping that Gilbert was too smart to fall into that trap. A mortgage tycoon is no more qualified to make basketball decisions than a basketball guy is qualified to make executive decisions at a mortgage company.

In constructing a properly run basketball franchise that has the best shot at competing year in and year out, you're precisely right. However, let's not forget that sports is a BUSINESS above all others. In business, the objective is to make money. Something Gilbert knows a lot about. And it is no secret that without LeBron, this franchise and city is worth a lot less.

Since James entered the NBA, the value of the Cavs' franchise jumped 85 percent to $477 million last year — the largest percentage increase in the league, according to Forbes.com. The team is currently ranked as the fifth-most valuable in the NBA.

Also according to Forbes on the value lost if LeBron were to leave:
''I wouldn't want to put an exact dollar amount on it, but it could easily be 10 percent.''

That's an eye-popping $47.7 million!

So yeah, in the eyes of a business man, Gilbert will do anything and everything to keep this valuable asset, including bending over backwards for LeBron James.

You let BASKETBALL people make the basketball decisions. Period.

Mathematical Proof Tom Izzo will be a success in the NBA!

:D

Reading ESPNEWS, sounds like discussion are on going with Izzo, Gilbert states Lebron will not be consulted on "coach search"

That means one of 2 things to me....ONE, Gilbert is lying about Lebron not having a saying or TWO, Lebron, he is telling the truth because he KNOWS Lebron is leaving and Gilbert want HIS guy now that Lebron will not be part of the Cavs future.

Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo called former Spartans coach Jud Heathcote Monday night to talk about the possible head-coaching job offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Detroit News reports, and Heathcote says Izzo won't take the job without some confirmation from LeBron James that he's staying in town instead of heading elsewhere in free agency.

"I honestly think he'll look at this," Heathcote told the paper. "But unless he can get some commitment from LeBron James, the job isn't that good. I think a lot hinges on what (Izzo) feels about LeBron's future. I think he's seriously considering it. He's going to look at it like he does on all things but he's got an awfully good situation at Michigan State, too."

Izz he or Izzn't he?

Tom Izzo is apparently closer to saying yes to the Cleveland Cavaliers than previously thought, a source told ESPN.com's Andy Katz on Thursday

That source discussed Izzo's future with a close confidant of Izzo, who is coaching in the NBA. The source told Katz that Izzo, who talked to his team earlier this week about his interest in the Cavaliers, is leaning toward taking the job if it is offered.

"Three weeks ago that wasn't the case, but it has changed,'' said the source.
