And, is LBJ signing anywhere that doesn't have a coach already hired at the time?? What a Catch-22!!!I heard that too, but like I said, Jackson's not signing there until he knows that LBJ is staying.

Well this was expected. I just dont think Jackson will go though and I dont think LeBron will stay. Why on earth would Jackson leave while on top with the Lakers to go coach some man child ball hog. All this fuss over some self annointed "king"??? You gotta be kidding me.
The Chicago Bulls have reached out to Phil Jackson through back channels to gauge his interest in returning to the franchise he won six NBA titles with, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.
With roughly $23 million to spend in free agency, the Bulls are one of the more probable landing spots for LeBron James. James is intrigued by the possibility of playing with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, according to sources, and the return of Jackson would only make the Bulls that much more attractive to the Cleveland Cavaliers' two-time MVP.
I just can't help it, but for me, this firing of Mike Brown brings memories of Mike Hargrove who got fired from Cleveland Indians back in 1999. I just hope the history doesn't repeat itself...

Are the Bulls even in the position to shell out $12k+ to a coach? I thought historically, Reinsdorf was a cheapskate?
"I have no, at all, desire to go back to Chicago and coach the Bulls," Jackson said, responding to an ESPN.com report from Monday night that the Bulls had reached out to Jackson through back channels to gauge his interest in a return.
You left out the rest of his statement. From the same story:So much for Phil coming back to Chi-town. Sorry kids.....
Wow. That's pretty cut and dry.
Phil Jackson shuts down Chicago Bulls return
Told by one reporter that he could shut down all the speculation right now, Jackson said: "I'll leave it open and just say, as of now, I have not made up my mind about coaching or not coaching next year. ... That's all I can say really. Truthfully."
"I just can't imagine [coaching another team]," Jackson continued. "Not to say that it's beyond your wildest dreams, [or] that it never would happen, [because] the strangest things do. But it's just not part of my conscious thought. Right now we're down this path [against] Phoenix."
You left out the rest of his statement. From the same story:
Jackson, however, said he couldn't go any farther than insisting that "the probabilities are great" that he'll be back on the Lakers' bench next season.
I still don't understand how you fire a guy who has 127 wins in 2 years and was coach of the year last year.
You've obviously followed sports long enough to know coaches (and athletes for that matter) have said one thing and later done the other. Until his signature is on the dotted line, anything is possible.or what about this?
The Lakers won't fire Phil, but for financial reasons want to restructure his $12 million/year contract, thus leaving the possibility for him to leave on his own free will to another higher paying team.

At the very least, he's using this interest as leverage to maybe try and get more $$ from the Lakers...
