Stargate Universe

Okay, I get that.:up But I don't want to see "Lost in Space" plots in this show. Where do we get water, where do we get fuel, where do we get the stuff we need to clean our air. It was cool when I was 6 years old but not at 47. I want to see ACTION and plots that make you THink. So far it is been very boring.

I agree, and am concerned that we'll just repeat the first season of Star Trek Voyager here. And for that matter, some early episodes of Battlestar Galactica.

I too want action and good plots too.

Well, so far they've eliminated 3 characters in the span two episodes (pilot and 1st episode)...so they're not following ST:Voyager in that respect, yet. It does tend to feel more like BSG than Stargate, which is a bit worrisome...but I'm still willing to give it time. There's not much other sci-fi on to watch, especially on Friday night...

I thought they'd be doing more with Ming-Na's character. I hope they don't simply relegate her to "romantic interest" of one of the more prominent characters.

Voyager eliminated characters in the first episode (just ones that were never intended to be more than a cameo to allow Chakotay and B'Ellana Torres to take key positions on the ship. :)

That's true, but they were (essentially) "red shirt" types anyway. ;) I think the two that perished last week were also "expendables"...

Isn't it funny that the term "red shirts" is synonymous with expendable and that it is part of the pop culture and that we all seem to know what it means?;)

I fast forwarded through the dronecasts and the visit home, I'm getting bored with the show. Whenever the story starts to get interesting they feel the need to cut to something boring.

I thought the episode was ok, but maybe we just need to get through the mandatory "how do we gain control of the ship and get power and supplies" crap to move forward.

And the damn communication stones are truly annoying.

Yet, the show has some beautiful women at least. Not sure who the Air Force sergeant is in the tight tee-shirt with the rather bodacious... ahem... but she caused Eli to abandon the naked girl in a heart-beat. :D And the medic is pretty sweet on the eyes as well. Certainly better than the Doc on BSG. :)

AND
as least from the trailer for next week, it looks like if Eli has a thing for the girl (is it Chloe?), he's got some competition.

The "peeping drone" bit was amusing...I chuckled...and yes, the show does has some nice window dressing. I hope that's not supposed to replace the lack of plot.

They definitely seem to be in bit of a spot now however...

And yes...
the name of the girl is Chloe. It's a really bad name for a character too...just sorta sticks in your mouth...and Eli does seem to be up against some competition...

I fast forwarded through the interview bits after the first couple, because it was holding up the show in my opinion.

Ok, what is up with the ship? Did it break apart into 3 parts? What was the thing that came off last episode, it was never addressed this episode. Are they going to be able to find power? Did the ship break up so that the small nose section could land, and leave the main drive units in orbit?

Ok the ship has been running a million years, and yet a few days of life support runs it out of power? This ship must have used 99.9999% of its fuel by the time they got there. The ship must be able to refuel. I was thinking it was going to do that when it did the sling shot manuever, why not scoop up some hydrogen while it is there?

I kept thinking they need to link in specialists from earth. Why not link it Rodney McKay or Samantha Carter to help when their scientist went temporarily insane? I suppose they are leaving this out so that it does not become a crutch.
